Hairstyles?

As long as Chekov doesn't have some emo My Chemical Romance haircut or something, I'll be fine with it.

I really don't think Abrams is going for a literal re-creation of TOS. I don't expect everything to look identical to the original '60s series. And that includes the hairstyles. I think we'll see something more modern and classic. No beehives.

The hair in Where No Man Has Gone Before wasn't nearly as poofy as the hair that came for the next 3 seasons (females mostly.) I think that if this movie is going to be around or before this particular point in time, they could get away with quite a bit of today's style in this film without it crashing violently into our glass walls of continuity. (Our fan laden Glass Menagerie if you will)

Beehive or two in the background would be nice, but the main characters could pass with nice, simple, contemporary styles. I for one think Sally Kellerman's hair in WNMHGB looked fantastic.

Actually I think the style at the time was much longer and shaggier than what we saw on TOS, and the actors even complained about having to keep their hair so short and slicked down for the series. So I think we can thank Roddenberry for thinking ahead the way he did.

Although in the 3rd season you can see those longer styles creeping into the show. Kirk's hair definitely got a bit bigger towards the end, and it looked terrible on him.

"I guess as long as they have pointy sideburns, that's a Trek style."

Ha Ha - I've been doing my son's hair and cutting pointy sideburns for some time now, and this incredible anti-trek teenager (how could he have sprung from my loins????) has been completely unaware of the fact! Hee Hee - Trek's revenge!!!

That's awesome. Damn whippersnapper, show him not to like Star Trek, he's rockin' the pointed sideburns.

And here I thought my puns were bad.

There's no shame in the bad puns game.

Huh? I didn't say that... don't have a son anyway. Looks like a mistype...

But, Chekov NEEDS a mop-top wig. Sorry. Gotta have it.

They're no longer trying to impress the Monkees' fan base. ;)

Some of the weirder hair - Chekov, Spock, the beehive thing perched on Rand's head - should be toned down to below the point that it would provoke outright laughter.

Unless the Monkees re-make flick comes out at the same time...

What about the style that had the interwoven strips in a high bun thing? That must have taken her all her off duty hours to do - unless she just replicated it. Would it be possible to stick your head in a replicator and get something done to your hair, or a face lift or something? Maybe that's how they could work Shatner in - get him to stick his head in a replicator and come out as Jensen Ackles!!!!
Sounds like a plan!
