Gut Reaction: How Does STID Rate?

^Hell yeah, someone else who loves 3 the most. ;)

3 - Tons of heart, great action sequences, great score, so good that the David/Saavik missteps don't affect my enjoyment
2 - A better movie than 3, but not as satisfying
6 - Great sendoff with a good story, moody score, the only reason it was any good was because Meyer could tell a story and do it on the cheap while making it look not-cheap
Star Trek '09 - This would be my absolute favorite if only the Nero backstory was part of the movie, and the young Kirk scenes weren't cut out
Into Darkness - Better plot than '09, but just one notch below it overall
4 - Not quite the fan of this, it's fun though. The musical score makes me cringe at times
TMP - Goldsmith's score alone makes this a classic.
First Contact - almost too convoluted to enjoy.... almost
5 - Well, at least Goldsmith's score is good
Generations - Gives Kirk, Ent-D and Picard's family meaningless deaths, and the plot sucked
Nemesis - Tired, uninspired, cheap, and the director's disinterest in the source material shows through. However, a recut with the deleted scenes could improve this movie greatly.
Insurrection - The message of this movie is insulting. Inconvenience a few hundred people to save BILLIONS of lives? Why is there a debate? It's like they combined elements from "Who Watches the Watchers", "Homeward" and "Journey's End" and flipped the message in each.

I saw it for a 2nd time last Friday night.
...
I don't think I'll ever be able to see Into Darkness as anything but an unmitigated, juvenile, fan-wanky mess.

Studios don't care about audience satisfaction as long as they succeed in taking your money. And they managed to get you to go twice.
