Guest star? History

several real characters from Earth's history, and I mean real history, have made appearences on several TREK episodes. Of all the historic people to appear, which was your favorite use of a historic person? And which episode was most forgetable.

My favorite was undeniably Leonardo Da Vinci, played by John Rhys-Davis, in VOY: Scorpion and VOY: Concerning Flight.

My most forgetable was probably Abraham Lincoln, played by Lee Bergere, in TOS: The Savage Curtain.

Good ones, though I'm not as harsh on good ole' Abe. That episode is part of my childhood...

I'm going to go with Adonais from Who Morns for Adonais. I thought Michael Forest played the mythical character. I include him because, although he is a "god", people in the past did worship him as if he were real and not a story. If Jesus were to appear in a Star Trek episode, and his existence isn't actualy provable either, then it would be the same thing IMO...

If we are going non 'mythical' historic people from the past, then I'll go with Time Arrow's Jerry (Samuel Clemens) Hardin. Even though Time's Arrow loses its way, I thought his performance was the best part of the episode(s).

My least favorite historical character featured in Star Trek? Hmmmmm...Joe Piscopo. He is never mentioned by name, from that awful episode; but still the same, it was a terrible idea that, thankfully, I've only seen twice, and the second was over twenty years ago!!!

Einstien and Stephen Hawking and Sir Issac Newton in the next generation. loved the idea of data discussing scientific principles with great minds of the past. the worst was Space Lincoln.

I liked Einstein on The Nth Degree. I don't care much for all those historic figures, and the overuse of Shakespeare/Mozart/Etc on Star Trek, they always make it sounds like as if humanity hasn't accomplished anything artistically speaking over 5 centuries.

I actually liked the idea of Amelia Earhart. I thought that was a fairly interesting idea. I don't know if it was carried out so well, but the idea was interesting.

THe same can be said for Samuel Clemmens from TNG. Pretty interesting "what if?"

I also never really cared for Morgan Earp, Virgil Earp, Wyatt Earp, and Doc Holliday in Spectre of the Gun.

I liked most all the figures who showed up in TOS. The Savage Curtain is one of my favorite TOS episodes.

I am curious how our differences in choices works out over differing generations. My generation- who saw TOS first versus the generation who saw 24th century Trek first.

This issue became part of another thread as well... generational preferences, I guess.
