News Guardians of the Galaxy v3 indefinitely delayed

Most of the people killed in the snap represent the future of the MCU, of course they'll be back. It's the characters who didn't get dusted that you should worry about.

Will the actors give it their all regardless and help keep the magic despite the missing piece of the puzzle? Or will they phone it in because of contracts forcing them to do this? I'm betting the latter. Which almost makes me wonder, what's the point.
American politics ruin so much in the world of late and now the entertainment we use to escape the nonsense. Yay.
Phoning it in as a form of protest for the purpose of sabotaging the project would be highly unprofessional and hurt everyone involved in the project both up and down, many if not most of whom have more to lose than the lead actors who are basically at this point just making more gravy, especially by comparison. So, I really doubt they'd give any less than their best.

I would like to formally nominate Gillian Robespierre, director of the hilarious and raunchy 2014 abortion-themed rom-com Obvious Child. If she were hired, and any actors tried to "phone in" their performance, I bet she could be a real Terror, amirite?! *rimshot*

Write up a contract, Disney! :p

Perhaps they're just waiting for the appropriate period of forgiveness before rehiring him? Louis CK seems to be back and forgiven after less than a year, so why not wait until mid-next year and quietly rehire him?

PS: I'm mostly being sarcastic in that I don't really believe that's what they're doing, but partly not in that apparently 10 months is the amount of time it takes to be forgiven for sexual harassment. What's the appropriate time frame for offensive jokes?

Who has forgiven Louis C.K.? Certainly not any of the people he directly harassed. What makes you think he’s been forgiven?

The fact that he's back performing without much in the way of criticism?

I'm not suggesting he's been forgiven by individuals. It's more of an internet/social media forgiveness - which is probably less about forgiveness and more about "we've moved on to a new target now so you can go back to what you were doing".

All of the news stories I've seen about his "return" (which was a single unexpected and perhaps unwanted crashing of a comedy club) have been critical of his return. Mind you, those were online sites like A.V. Club, Vox, etc.

You can't compare Gunn to CK. Gunn made some stupid tweets, apologized and didn't do it again. The tweets were stupid and offensive but he didn't actually hurt anyone, and he learned from his mistakes. CK actually did horrible shit. Gunn did nothing to deserve getting fired at this point, while CK is a piece of shit who shouldn't be forgiven.

Basically, Gunn got fired because Disney let a right wing troll cost them $1 Billion for no actual reason (while still employing actual shitheads like Ike Perlmutter and Marvel Comics current Editor In Chief), while CK suffered (and should still be suffering, regardless of what his defenders say) consequences of being a piece of shit.

There was a ton of criticism. Lots of discussion about whether or not he should be back, whether or not he’s done anything to actually make amends.

Most of the media I’ve encountered was very critical of his 10 minute set.

Yeah, I keep seeing people say that and it doesn't make any sense. The Infinity Gauntlet essentially makes you god. You're not bound by the snap when the glove gives you control over ALL of time and space. Not sure why people keep thinking the snap is some sort of boundary. I don't see them keeping dead one of the very few strong female characters like Gamora, who is also the most prominent female as she's one of the actual stars of Guardians instead of a supporting character like the rest.

Loki? Until the credit's roll and he's not brought back, I'll continue to remember that he's faked his death multiple times and that there was nothing to suggest this time was any different.

Who else of actual relevance died pre-snap? Heimdall? Was he really that relevant? And IIRC, the Norse Gods in Marvel Comics were cyclic. Ragnarok had happened before and the remaining gods joined together to form the Odin we're all familiar with, who then went on to restart the cycle. At least that was the story when they were actual gods and not aliens mistaken for gods.

What tends to happen with disgraced individuals is they lose most of their audience. Keyword: most. There will always be a minory of people who stick with the person for one reason or another. But once they "lose" their audience, they usually never win them back again. I mean, some old-timers still hold a grudge against Jane Fonda over Hanoi Jane. The first time I really noticed this was the Rush Limbaugh Oxycontin scandal. Then you had Glenn Beck who became too insane even for Fox News, only to wind up starting his own (smaller) fiefdom of like-minded insanity. You'll see these two still enjoy support for mostly political reasons, but as politics has invaded entertainment, the same sort of tribal us vs. them mentality has emerged. People use all these figures to make a political statement, either to shame them, or to support them in the face of shaming. I'm sure that is a huge part driving the Louis CK audience. I doubt anybody in the audience liked what he did, but that takes a backseat to the axe they have to grind against the makeup of those who shouted the loudest to destroy his career, fears of slippery-slopes of extra-judicial social-media lynch mobs for ever increasingly petty infractions, etc... From that point, the enemy of my enemy becomes your friend. The same is true with the tribal defense of Gunn. Even if Gunn's sins don't amount to Louis CK, the preferential treatment he's been given by the left is driven mostly by not wanting to concede a "loss" to Cernovich.

Elba ain’t coming back. I could see Hiddleston also not coming back. As much fun as Ragnarock was, it basically neutered Loki as a villain. That can’t be so much for an actor. Especially one who has ambitions.

As of Infinity War, Loki is basically a straight up hero. Bringing him back means either running with that (which isn't going to work with a character like Loki) or undoing all of his character development (which they don't want to do, either). His story is done. There's no reason for him to come back this time.

Also, Heimdall is definitely gone (is that a big deal? I don't know, though it's certainly a huge loss for Thor's supporting cast, which is already decimated after Ragnarok. Maybe Thor won't have anymore solo movies, though, so that wouldn't matter then).

Gamora will probably be in some way instrumental to Thanos' defeat (from inside the soul stone), but if Marvel is actually thinking about seriously changing Guardians 3, that would mean there's a very real possibility she won't survive in the end.

Vision is also a serious possibility. On the one hand, the setup for bringing him back is right there in IW. On the other hand, Scarlet Witch's building character arc seems to be all about slowly driving her mad through terrible losses, and Vision actually being dead could be the next big step in that. Who knows, maybe they split the difference and get a version of Vision back who doesn't really have any personality and just acts like a robot.

The snap is going to be undone. Everyone already knows that.

I am hoping Loki doesn't come back. I love the character and Hiddleston's portrayal but he's really been overused as a villain at this point. Let's see some new characters and new antagonists for Thor, whether the current version or the next version.

Perhaps on the verge of being overused then. I've enjoyed all of his appearances up until this point but even in Ragnorak it became something of a punchline that he keeps using the same tactics over and again. Let's see something new.
