GTA 4 PS3, Question

I have the code to get the helicopter, but when I press the button to get the phone, I can't figure out how punch in the numbers using the controller. Can someone please help me?

I've only played the 360 version, but I'm guessing the two should be the same.

Press up. Then press up again. Now use the d-pad to navigate the numbers. Once the numbers are entered then press the green button.
