The trouble with doing an adaption of "War of the Supermen" is that you'd have to essentially include all of the New Krypton story. I could see it as a large hardcover. It would start with "Last Son" then delve into the World of New Krypton story line, with the last few chapters depicting the Last Stand of New Krypton and War of the Supermen.
I'd look at Denny O'Neill's novelization of Batman: Knightfall fifteen years ago as an example of that. O'Neill streamlined the story immensely, cutting out a great deal of the Jean-Paul side of KnightQuest. Mon-El filling in for Superman was cool, but it's not necessary. Nightwing and Flamebird hunting down the other Kryptonians is probably more relevant.War of the Superman would make for a good novel but it is a pretty long story. I'm sure any adaptation would basically focus on the Superman side of the story and barely show Mon-El or Nightwing/Flamebird or Supergirl. I agree you'd have to include Last Son as a prologue.
I just noticed that there is a regular paperback edition of 52 out now. I am particularly fond of Greg's 52 novelization because I read it during my first foot surgery. In fact I've probably mentioned that in this thread or in my original 52 novelization thread. It helped me through a rough recovery, Greg so thanks again! I might have to pick it up even though I have the oversized paperback edition.I might have asked this before Greg, but does this mean that we'll eventually get a normal paperback edition of Final Crisis as well?
