Greg Cox's Inifinite Crisis and Final Crisis

^ It deserves it's own book ;)

That's what I thought. It's really its own big saga.

To be honest, one of the main reasons I cut it out was because I didn't want the second half of the novel to feel like an anticlimax. I didn't want to have Superman win the ultimate battle against the ultimate, transcendental evil midway through the book. It felt like a climax, not a subplot.

So I just skipped ahead to the Legion scene . . . .

(Plus, of course, I wasn't sure how to write in 3-D!)

^ Heh. Really Legion of Three Worlds and Superman Beyond required novels because they're so epic in their own right and tie in with each other before then merging back into the main Final Crisis story. It's taking me years to realize this part of Grant and Geoff's genius intention with those tie-ins.

I think it was mentioned in one of the Hyper-crisis fan charts that Darkseid falling through time as he arrives in the present is suppose to connect with his appearances in the original Legion.

Also there are hints for Brightest Day all the way back in 52 with Rama Kushna and Elongated Man.

There's hyper-crisis fan chart/s? I might have to do a search to check one out. I believe Darkseid is "currently" still in Legion time since Paul Levitz recently revealed his presence in a recent issue but like so many of his story seeds hasn't touched upon it yet. It also might have just been a Darkseid statue.

Here's a question for you all... as a comic fan but not an active reader in literally decades, how much would I enjoy just reading the books w/o having read any of the comics? I'm a big fan of Greg's Trek work, which is mainly why I'm interested... With a parsec-long to-read-list already the chances of me having the time and latinum to ever get the actual comics is basically nil, but reading you folks talk about it piques my interest now and then.

^ Well, I'll be curious to hear how actual readers answer your question, but I know that I tried to make the books accessible to readers who hadn't read every issue of every DC comic for the last ten years. Important bits of backstory are recapped, and I tried to give every character at least a few lines of introduction.

"Holly Robinson has once been Catwoman's best friend and sidekick, but now she was on her own," etc. That sort of thing.

I read the Infinite Crisis novelization without having read recent comics and I was able to follow it well enough, even though it had a LOT of characters in the mix. The only part I had trouble with was visualizing the costumes as described, but that would be difficult in any case without a picture.

Not yet. To be honest, I'm little swamped right now, juggling two books-in-progress, plus my editorial work at Tor, so I haven't had a chance to talk to the good folks at Ace. I promise to look into this as soon as I get a little breathing space.

Sorry for the delay.

Alright, that's fine. Thanks for trying to anyways.
