you may or may not have heard that Nashville and the surrounding counties of middle Tennessee, southern Kentucky and part of west Tennessee ( millington) have been through some interesting times.
we have been told it was a thousand year flood event. it flooded in places no one ever expected it to flood.
but even though large areas are damaged the city and area are already rising up and moving forward.
Nashville is already putting out the word that the city is still open for tourists even though we have lost for awhile our major convention center and hotel (we have another non damaged down town) and major mall.
the downtown area is already drained out and a lot of it is getting ready to open for business.
and tomorrow night the symphony will be playing a free concert down town.
our major art museums are ok.. but..
it will be awhile before a lot of people recover from this.
some entire neighborhoods were devastated by the flooding.
bellevue which is a part of metro Nashville Davidson was hard hit as well as antioch, parts of west nashville, bordeaux, and well to many to mention.
below is some links to area news organizations along with links to slide shows showing what happened.
but things could have been far worse.
we are feeling the sadness for those who died but,
so many more people would have died except we had a great response from volunteers just showing up with boats and from people like the firemen, police and other emergency personal.
the swat team was out in their swift water boat in areas were the currents were too strong for an ordinary boat to handle.
many of the surrounding counties were also damaged.
so please keep us in your thoughts and maybe even pay us a visit.
despite all this we still are a good place to drop in on.
