Green Lantern Series

It'll probably start up agin in january I think. part of the dc nation along with the new BATMAN series.

I enjoyed it too, but the writing looks like it's suited for the fun and simplicity of an animated series. I don't think it would work in a live-action format where it could come off as pretty unsophisticated.
Whereas I thought the writing was quite rich and sophisticated, the best thing about the show so far.
I thought so too, but would every line and every scene have worked equally well if they were done in live-action? Animated shows and movies have a level of fun, simplicity and inherent cartoonishness that live-action doesn't have and can't always get away with, so I don't know if a comparison is fair.

I wasn't suggesting that THIS script, word for word, should've been the live action GL movie. That would be foolish.

But, in less than an hour, they were able to introduce the Green Lanterns, the powers, the Guardians, make Hal interesting and compelling, have a Villain (that you can punch) that was as equally compelling.

So, it's not IMPOSSIBLE. Yet, for the GL movie, it seemed like a struggle.

Does anybody know when the series actually starts? I looked through the guide on my tv and its not on this week or next week?

It probably won't be on until Spring. CN premiered Young Justice in November last year and the series didn't premier until late Winter/early Spring this year.

I heard somewhere, possibly IGN, that they were going to be avoiding Sinestro. I guess they could still have the Sinestro Corps, though.

I think that was only because the movie series was supposedly going to focus on Sinestro. Now that THAT's out the window, the cartoon will probably get clearance to use him again.

I mean, it's the first major GL cartoon. We HAVE to see Sinestro in there at some point.

^There is still talk of a GL sequel, so I wouldn't count on Sinestro showing in the cartoon very soon.

You'd think so, but these things can be complicated by external factors. The '90s Spider-Man series didn't have the Green Goblin show up for years (though Norman Osborn was a regular character from the start) because the toy company backing the show told them to feature the Hobgoblin instead. And we never saw Sandman or Electro (though a different character became a version of Electro very near the end of the series) because those were going to be the villains in the James Cameron movie that was being developed at the time so they were off-limits for the show.

Not a huge fan of the animation but I enjoyed the episode well enough....Hal Jordan was much more shallow than in the movie version and needs better writing.

RAMA

I wouldn't bet on a sequel....
Sure, but, can't count it out yet either. They haven't stated it was off the table, and the popularity of the Animated Series may influence a Sequel movie. And, if they get a really good script they may decidde to give it another try.

True, they haven't stated it was off the table... but...

And if it does come back, it will have a reduced budget. And a part of me wonders if Reynolds would come back. Anyway, subject for another thread.

Not sure if this point has been made regarding the ship in the series but I was flipping through the hardcover for War of the Green Lanterns and what did I see? Basically the same ship. Only in the comic arc Hal and Guy take and fly the ship. It would seem that they took the ship from the comics and rewrote the story line where it is used.

^ Given the lead time on animation as compared to comics, I would believe the animated ship came first. The comic ship may have been inspired by internal previews of the animated series, or it could just be a coincidence.

Probably with the DC Nation block, which I thought would start in March, but I can't find a source for that.
