Green Lantern officially has a green light

I actually agree with CaptainCanada that an older woman might do some good. I have this weird inkling that the dynamic between a young hotshot pilot (Jordan) and an older, world-worn and slightly more weary female executive (Ferris) might be an interesting dynamic. Garner fits that bill rather excellently.

Am I the only person who doesn't like Ryan Reynolds as the Green Lantern? I just don't think he has the look. Steve Burton(39) is older but has the look.

Ocourse being on a soap opera isn't going to win any points with people here.

Walter Koenig should get a part of some kind. Apparently at a con, Walter was going from point A to Point B and encountered a guy wearing a GL logo'd T-Shirt.

Koenig asked where it had come from, the guy responded.

Checkov/Bester then placed his hand on the lantern emblem and said:

"In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight
Let those who worship evil's might,
Beware my power... Green Lantern's light!"

...and walked off. :techman:
That's pretty cool if true. Maybe he can play a Guardian?

So is this just a Hal Jordan origin film or will we get to see Oa and hopefully grasp the scope of the Green Lantern Corps as a whole?

Will Superman be in this movie? I heard a rumor that he was at one time...but I doubt it will happen.

:(

Not at all. I think he's a horrible actor and I'm very disappointed that he's in this film.

I'm not terribly familiar with Green Lantern, so I don't care so much about staying true to the source than say Spider-Man. I've always been curious about the character so I'm interested in checking this out and I hope that they stay loyal as best as possible.

I would settle for a Clark Kent cameo...as long as it is Brandon Routh or Tom Welling.

Well, Kent was under scrutiny by Abin Sur's ring as his successor. That whole "not of Earth" thing cinched Jordans place.

There were other factors in the GL canon, but this was the salient part for the CLark Kent question.

Hal Jordan FTW!!

Something tells me that DC will kill (or already has) the Clark Kent cameo from going forward. Given they are still trying to figure out what to do with a Superman movie and are very protective of their properties, I can see them not wanting him used as a side character in GL (especially if it gives the impression that the actor being used will be in a future Superman movie).

^ Yeah, I'd say that's a pretty safe bet all right, given the state of the Superman movie franchise and the recent judgement in the legal action brought by the Shuster/ Siegel estates.

The coolest thing about this little anecdote is that the person Koenig's Babylon 5 character was named for, science fiction author Alfred Bester, is actually the person who originally created and wrote the ring-charging oath!

^That, I was not aware of. Very cool.

I'm not a hardcore GL fan, but I do try and follow the basics somewhat.

If it's a Jordan Origin Film, that means we might at least see Guy Gardner as Guy was the #2 pick as near as I can recall.

If they go with an updated Corps though, they might bypass the timespan between each of the earth lanterns getting their rings and go ahead with the 2 lantern per planet rule which doubles the active duty corps from 3600 to 7200 officers in addition to the Veteran Corps members, trainers, administrators, and Honor Guard.

The cameo was only like a split second in the script. Abin Sur is pouring through images of potential candidates to replace him and Clark Kent appears as a visual in a hologram for all of two seconds.

^ If it is just a name on a list (a la Gambit in X2), they might be able to get away with it. If it is a role they need to cast, regardless of the length, I bet it got canned early.
