Well..I couldn't disagree more. And the surprise traitor is what i thought made the movie..and the reason they didn't like Hal was because they liked Abin Sur better..

My rankings

GREEN LANTERN FIRST FLIGHT
Best one so far..not even close

NEW FRONTIER
Although it skips over a lot, still very good.

WONDER WOMAN
Most mature story telling attempt yet

SUPERMAN vs DOOMSDAY
Boring, but good finish

BATMAN DARK KNIGHT
Overated hooey, not meant for kids, and utter a waste of time

I liked it. I gave it an A- (I liked the Wonder Woman movie just a tad more myself, but only by a few points). I was never particularly a fan of Hal Jordan--Kyle Rayner was my Green Lantern--but I liked him in this story and I liked how Sinestro and the Corps were depicted here...

Overall good, a couple of rough spots: I didn't think the voice of the guardians really "fit" the characters, and seemed a little rushed a couple of time-- mainly towards the start and at the end.

I gave this an overall b+.

The reason its not an A production has to do with my absolute hatred of the way the Guardians are portrayed. Bickering old biddies indeed! Just so wrong. These are beings as old as the cosmos and here they are snipping at each other in front of the corp? Totally wrong!!
I also didnt like the "green element/yellow element". I understand they did this to give Sinestro access to power far above the lanterns and the guardians, but that just felt like a poor story device.

^^ Actually in the new GL/GLC comic the Guardians are always disagreeing with each other. There was a particularly bloody disagreement in Blackest Night #1 :D

Well they had to compromise, I suppose, on the "Yellow Element". Seeing as the original rings had the yellow weakness, but then that was retconned out to be merely the Parallax fear-demon and that it could be overcame. Guess they didn't want to waste time trying to explain the rings. Though, frankly, that's one of the parts that felt rushed.

La La Land Records have stated at the FilmScoreMonthly board they just signed the papers for releasing this score, so that should be announced in a couple of months (I would assume; they said they were current working on over 40 projects).

Well as someone who doesn't know crap about Green Lantern (other than JLU, where he was a colossal prick), I thought the movie was really damn good.

Lots of cool action, a plot that was fairly easy for a newbie to follow, and some kickass theme music. Like others, I do wish there had been a bit more characterization, and that we got to see Hal learn how to use the ring in the first place (can't believe they would leave something like that out), but the movie still worked regardless.

I really enjoyed First Flight. I thought the pacing was handled well. No long origin sequence (see Superman origin people an origin can only be a few minutes long) loved the scenes on Oa and Sinestro was good. They should have included Parallax as the fear demon powering the Yellow Power Battery though. I'd love to see a War of Light follow up a couple years down the road. The animation was solid, best of the bunch and I thought Wonder Woman was awesome. The soundtrack was the best out of all the films, I loved the opening sequence music. I have Vic Garber stuck in my head as Sinestro now and forever I think haha. Chris Meloni did a great job as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern.

I want to see this, but haven't had a chance. I did, however, want to comment on something peculiar about Superman/Doomsday. While I thought that as a whole it was good, not great, the cheekbones on Superman's face just fixate and annoy me. I know, the ultimate in message board b******g. Did anyone else notice this? And did it give rise to irrational dislike the same as me?

Horrendous art direction decision, Superman looked horrible.

I watched this the other day and I really enjoyed it. I felt it's up there with Wonder Woman and Justice League Final Frontier as the best of these movies released so far.

I know we're getting Superman Batman Public Enemies next (and in only 2 months which is nice) but does anyone have any idea what's coming after that? I haven't seen anything officially, perhaps they hinted at something at Comic Con? I'm still hoping for Justice League Worlds Collide.

I agree..when my non-comicbook fan can get into a Comic-book movie, FIRST FLIGHT, then I know its good. He thought it was pretty good. He thinks SUPES and BATS are overkill, though he did like DARK KNIGHT movie..who didnt.

But, if done right, I think GREEN LANTERN can tap into the SUPERHERO and SCIFI fans (not always on the same page, if any of you at Comic-con can atest to)

I don't think anything has been announced after Superman/Batman which I'm seriously looking forward to obviously since the DVD cover is my avatar! I agree with Superman/Doomsday about the look of Superman. I just liked the take on the Fortress of Solitude it looked like it was a merger of the Donner one and Bryne Fortress. Kelex was there I think or a version of him. I want When Worlds Collide too....Crime Syndicate baby.

I was over at IMDB looking at the voices for the characters. Is this DVD considered to take placein the JLU universe? Because the vocal talent of BATMAN/SUPERMAN is the same.

This does look good..so I hope it turns out that way. And I hope the lack of any new DVD announcements doesn't mean there are going to be no more new ones. I'd love to see them produce sequels to the ones we've already scene.

What makes it worse is they weren't even trying to copy a particular comic book style. It was just their own look they came up with for some reason.

Just rented watched it HD via Xbox live. I thought it was great, and my 5 year old did too.

The animation - especially the battle scenes - was great. I think they absolutely nailed the lantern constructs.

Weaknesses? Sure. I thought Meloni wasn't the right pick for Hal, but he got the job done. But none were big enough for me to nitpick about.

I gave it an 'A'.
