Re: Green Lantern E.T. Spot!!!

The trailer with THOR needs to kick ass.

I fully expect that it will, though I actually enjoyed the first trailer for the most part. The CGI costume reveal didn't really impress me, or anyone else apparently, but these things can be tweaked and improved. Other than that I thought it was a pretty solid teaser. I'm not really sure why it was so poorly received. *shrug*

On the downside, it does sound like certain aspects of this film are coming together rather late in the game.

Re: Green Lantern E.T. Spot!!!

Well, he looks like Green Lantern...but we already knew that much. Kilowog looks like Kilowog, Sinestro looks like Sinestro...

Re: Green Lantern E.T. Spot!!!

Nice tush!

(I felt it was only fair, given the comments in the WW thread :))

Re: Green Lantern E.T. Spot!!!

Why is it that every promotional material for this film makes it look less and less appealing? I'm up for any decent looking superhero film, but this is just looking more and more cartoonish.

I'm not a GL reader/fan, so this is just my perspective.

No idea why it works that way for some people - the more I see, the more I like it. Of course, I'm a Green Lantern fan.

Geoff Johns tweeting from CinemaCon just now:

It's all looking a bit Fantastic Four isn't it.

Still, Martin Campbell usually delivers solid films so it should be okay in the end.

I'm a fan of the character as well but I'm not impressed. The flaws of what has been shown are apparent. Perhaps your statement implies that because you are a GL fan you are dismissing the flaws...at least currently based on what we've been given.

Likewise you diss on Thor while a larger number are impressed with it, as am I, and I never read Thor till the last few years. Read comics 25yrs almost and I'm way more a GL fan than THOR and the latter just looks more refined.

Re: Green Lantern E.T. Spot!!!

Nice stuff there, from Alex Billington of Firstshowing.net:
We saw 4 scenes. First was Abin-Sur piloting his ship and being attacked by Parallax - was awesome. Then he ends up on Earth, next scene was Hal talking with Abin while he was dying. Scene seemed choppy, but he gives him ring. Next was him saying oath for the first time, then he goes to Oa immediately. Then we see him talking with Tomar-Re on Oa with Geoffrey Rush's voice and a GREAT looking very 'alive' CGI costume that looks MUCH better than the first trailer. Then we saw Sinestro addressing the Green Lantern Corps down in the core of Oa. Not fully finished but was great. Lots of other alien GLs seen there as there's a huge crowd of thousand of GLs and lots that people will totally geek out about. Won't spoil which ones. That was it plus a little montage of extra footage. I think it looks awesome, way way more excited than I was before this. Expect to see all of this footage at WonderCon, as it seemed hand picked for Green Lantern fans.

Apparently although the announcement about Rush has only just been made he's already been working on the movie.

Re: Green Lantern E.T. Spot!!!

It's not surprising that Ryan Reynolds will sleep well tonight. No, it's not because he's a wildly successful actor who moviegoers adore. Instead, he can breathe easier that his upcoming tentpole, the CG-heavy "Green Lantern," is finally rounding into shape. Reaction to 10 minutes of footage from Martin Campbell's at today's WonderCon presentation was, as Reynold's co-star Blake Lively described it, "like a celebration." And, considering the questions that have plagued the film since the ho-hum response to the first trailer, that's very good news.

Next was Green Lantern. Director Martin Campbell, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively took that stage. While they warned us the footage wasn’t done and we’d see a lot of imperfections, they were lying. What was shown actually was so much better than I expected, I was stunned for a few seconds. While I’ve been looking forward to Green Lantern, after the footage today, I’m now at another level of excitement. Loaded with action, great looking CGI work, and a story that’s bigger than any previous comic book movie, Green Lantern is the next generation of the genre and fans are going to be blown away when they get a look at it. While I have no idea if the final film will look as great as the footage today, but if it does, then holy shit. More on this in the video blog.

i'm looking forward to a new trailer or seeing some new footage. i'm a GL fan and don't want the movie to be a complete failure.

Re: Green Lantern E.T. Spot!!!

The suit looks great but that mask still looks funky. :sigh:

Re: Green Lantern E.T. Spot!!!

I agree, the mask still looks wonky. I kind of wish they'd go without a mask, to be honest. The rest of the costume's looking good, though.

Re: Green Lantern E.T. Spot!!!

WonderCon footage is available...

Looks 1000000x better than the previous trailer.
