Even if the film itself is a letdown, the alien designs are truly amazing. That's a stunning variety of cool looking aliens.
Nice book. Now I'm interested in this as well as the film. Here's a review of Constructing Green Lantern: From Page to Screen, the companion book for the film. Lots of concept art and a nice spread with the various prominently featured GLs. IIRC, this should be in stores next week. Looking forward to getting my hands on one.
I must say the new trailer is quite the thing to behold.... I've shown it to several people who do not know anything about G.L. and they agree... it looks like a kick ass movie...

Pretty much all of the human characters, and stuff on Earth are done in (mostly) live action. It's just the aliens and Oa that are CG.did thcast any actos at all... anything that matters is done with computers anyway. looks like crap. I miss the 80's and 90's, when computers were just a tool, not the whole damn film.
Let's not forget that massive cloud "thing" going through the streets and latching onto the buildings.Pretty much all of the human characters, and stuff on Earth are done in (mostly) live action. It really amazes that after 35 (1976's Westworld was the featured a 3D CGI hand and face) people are pissed when these kinds of movies use CGI effects. I find it hard to believe anyone would have honestly expected otherwise at this point.Let's not forget that massive cloud "thing" going through the streets and latching onto the buildings.Pretty much all of the human characters, and stuff on Earth are done in (mostly) live action. Oh, and do you think that flying scenes in their jets are not using any CGI?
Even if you are right, this film is clearly just a CGI orgasm.. all the magic powers are just boring CGI renderings. And Ryan Reynold's is the kind of actor that's just plain boring... he can take a character that's interesting on the page and make him boring... he seems more fake than all the G.
It's clear that the studio has no fucking idea how to market the film, nor do they have a clue if it will resonate with anyone but the niche audience. The first trailer focused on the lead character and his relationship with his girl friend (or latest sleep prospect) and his flight partner, and focused on the comedy. Although it looked like a million other films, it still seems to be a good representation of what this film is going to be, yet fans hated the trailer. So they went back and cut together another trailer than nixed the comedy around the women while simultaneously telling the entire story about the lead character.
And still, they are not sure if the film will generate interest. So they roll the dice and hastily patch together a new trailer done from the POV of.. the Latern Corp, or some god-like voice.. and they give away every trick this film has to offer and hopes that we care about this universal war, or that "yellow is the power of fear" while failing to generate any true excitement.

Likewise. I'd basically written this off as Iron Man Lite (not that there's anything wrong with that) until they released that trailer that had stuff on the alien planet. It's definitely gotten me alot more interested in the movie and the GL/GC character(s) than I was before hand.
The pink/red alien looks for all intents and purposes like some human guy with a pigmented skin - the kind of role a lot of other productions would just give to an actor and doll him up in makeup, as they did the purple guy who gets killed. I'm not at all clear why he's CGI,
Ah. I guess it must have been the skull thing, because when I saw that guy I figured he was CGI.His "uniform" is CG, same as Ryan Reynolds' is, but other than possibly distorting the size of his skull a little in post -
I'm pretty miserable at telling the difference, though.
