Greatest Character Entrances and Exits

Barry Allen in "The Human Thunderbolt," where he dies outrunning a tachyon, creates a stable time loop, and becomes the very lightning bolt that gave him his powers.

His entrance was his exit. Whoa.

I thought of a few more great 'character exits': Starbuck in both "Maelstrom" and "Daybreak", and Felix Gaeta and Tom Zarek in "Blood on the Scales".

Fred Burkle got a couple great exits within the span of 2 episodes on Angel. First you have her actual death in "A Hole in the World" (followed by the chilling entrance of Illyria in Fred's body, "This will do"). Then, the moment that always totally breaks my heart because it's the moment that I realize that Fred is permanently gone, when we see the flashback of her driving off into the sunset at the end of "Shells."

Speaking of character deaths, I think Spock's death was done really well in TWOK. If they had never ended up bringing the character back, I wouldn't have felt like they killed him off badly.

Gotta agree with the reveal of Ent-A...greatest Trek moment ever I think.

Other honorable mentions: "I'd like to test that assumption..." Giles returns to face Darth Rosenberg.

This exit is a tear-jerker for me: the last appearance of the new Galactica in Daybreak. Thank you Bear for giving her her proper theme back for her last flight.

The full head on reveal of the Enterprise in TMP gets me evey time. The music is just the icing on the cake. You really feel just why Kirk loves that ship.

And Marty's grand re-entrance at the end of Back to the Future, Part II. "Oh, I know, you did send me back to the future, but I'm back. I'm back from the future."

And in that same cliffhanger-y vein, Captain Barbosa's walking down the stairs at the end of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. "So tell me, what's become of my ship?"

It's kind of weird how many Star Wars enterances are fairly undramatic compared to Vader's. Most of the characters just appear (Both Luke and Han's original intros were going to be slightly earlier in the film but got cut out. Luke had an extended prologue where he spots the spaceships battling and informs his friends, and says goodbye to Biggs, and Han would be seen earlier in the cantina sequence with a woman companion). Although Obi-Wan makes a cool entrance both times in ANH and TPM.

For Luke to be slaving away in the heat fixing a moisture evaporator and look up to see a mysterious battle happening far above his head would have been COOL! :bolian: And then Uncle Owen barks at him to get back to work, that Empire shit has got nothing to do with him. Then he glances up while Luke isn't looking, with an unsettled expression on his face - he hopes it has nothing to do with him. But it should be just that little snippet of foreshadowing, without any other characters appearing, because more would unbalance the fast pace of the opening sequences.

Leia's low-key entrance as a mysterious girl in a white hood was a good entrance, I wouldn't change that. Ditto for Han, slouched in a cantina booth, waiting for a confrontation with a dimwitted assassin.

The entrance and exit for Lal in The Offspring (one of my favorite TNG episodes). The entrance is great because you don't really know what's happening, and why Data has a severed robotic foot, until Lal's revealed. The exit was a huge heart-wrencher too. Sub-Zero's entrance from Mortal Kombat and Scorpion's exit from the same were pretty awesome too, including Sub-Zero's brother in the sequel.

O Ren and the Crazy 88s entering the House Of Blue Leaves is my favorite. Another great one is Selma Hyak's dance in Dusk Till Dawn, and honorable mention to Hit Girl's first in costume appearance.

Has nobody mentioned the exit of the entire cast of Blakes 7, but especially Avon, yet?

Similarly the exit of the entire cast of Angel!

Sheridan got a damn fine finale as well in B5.

Optimus Prime in ROTF.

he drives out of a C-17 at altitude over Shanghai in truck mode, transforms and then fucking parachutes into battle.

bad. ass.

Haven't seen either mentioned.

Favorite exit - Babylon 5 - Talia Winters, her departure in "Divided Loyalties" was awesome.

Favorite entrance - Doctor Who - the Sixth Doctor (Colin Baker). "Change, my dear. And it seems not a moment too soon." And then almost instantly trying to murder Peri. And let's be honest, who hasn't wanted to do that? :)

You know, now that I think about it, I have to toss in Unicron from the 1986 Transformers movie. I mean, he shows up and EATS A PLANET. That's one helluva way to start your day off!
