Greatest "All-Star" cast in a film?

Bad Bishop

Rear Admiral

The thread about 70's films got me thinking about this. Which film had the biggest lineup of major stars? Maybe it would be 1974's The Towering Inferno, starring:

Steve McQueen
Paul Newman
William Holden
Fred Astaire
Faye Dunaway
Richard Chamberlain
Robert Vaughn
Robert Wagner

BTW, let's try to forget that future murderer O.J. Simpson was in the film.

That's a good one, for sure. How about The Longest Day:

John Wayne
Richard Burton
Rod Steiger
Henry Fonda
Robert Mitchum
Sean Connery

and I know I'm forgetting some other big names.

I can't believe this but the biggest "All-Star" cast probably wasn't for a film. It was probably in Jimmy Kimmel's I'm F****** Ben Affleck.

After looking it up, I think A Bridge Too Far (1977) may have had the greatest cast:

Dirk Bogarde
James Caan
Michael Caine
Sean Connery
Edward Fox
Elliot Gould
Gene Hackman
Anthony Hopkins
Ryan O'Neal
Robert Redford
Maximilian Schell
Laurence Olivier
Liv Ullman

Towering Inferno has a good set.

How about Murder on the Orient Express:

Albert Finney
Lauren Bacall
Sean Connery
Ingrid Bergman
Michael York
Vanessa Redgrave
Jacqueline Bisset
Anthony Perkins
Martin Balsam

And it has an awesome story to boot. ;)

Edit: Whoa, A Bridge Too Far has a stellar cast! I need see that film.

Doesn't fully count as "all star" but it is an impressive cast none-the-less.

The re-make of Ocean's 11 with George Clooney.

Not accounting for quality, but if it has anything on it's side, Ocean's 12 probably has an even bigger all-star cast.

Interesting. I was just thinking the other day how many members of the cast of Platoon have gone on to long careers in the movies and television:

Willem Dafoe
Tom Berenger
Charlie Sheen
Forest Whitaker
Francesco Quinn
John C McGinley
Richard Edson
Kevin Dillon
Keith David
Johnny Depp
Mark Moses
Tony Todd

No really big stars, perhaps, with the possible exception of Depp--but a successful group of actors with numerous Academy Award, Golden-Globe, and Emmy nominations among them (and a few wins).

battle of Britain had quite a few stars Micheal Caine for one plus a lot of others that escape me for the moment

cannon ball run was another one

roger Moore
dean martin
Sammy Davis Jr
Burt Reynolds
are a few

Felicity Huffman
Melinda Dillon
April Grace

THE DARK KNIGHT:
Christian Bale
Heath Ledger
Gary Oldman
Michael Caine
Maggie Gyllenhaal
Morgan Freeman
Aaron Eckhart
Cillian Murphy
Eric Roberts
Anthony Michael Hall
Nestor Carbonell
William Fitchner

Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet and A Midsummer Night's Dream put together pretty impressive casts, even in supporting roles.

Bobby would've been more impressive had Emilio Estevez, Demi Moore, Sharon Stone, Heather Graham, Laurence Fishburne, Helen Hunt and Christian Slater still been in their prime, but still:
