Great Moments in TrekBBS History!

Oh noes... this is just seconds away from becoming one of those classic T-BBS pun-threads!

Plaice someone post something else with a bass in T-BBS lore!

I remember many of the mentioned above. I've been here over 8 years now

When I was still in Maryland before I decided to become a teacher after 5 years in animal care, I was largely involved in some of the avatar contests in the trek forums. It isn't the same anymore. I remember when 5-10 posters participated in the Voyager one.

I also miss when Ratboy ran the captions contests especially back when Galleywest kept winning. It's not the same.

And for those who don't know the pure comic genius of MajorBarcalow? Here it is.
MajorBarcalow was before my time, so I clicked the link so I would know what everyone was talking about. After reading some threads, I noticed this:

Who is this imposter?! This pretender?! This usurper of my visage?! I believe I'll sharpen my dueling sword.

He was here first, but continuity is for n00bs.

I'm of the mind that forums will remain a strong refuge for people who like more involved, complicated discussions. Fewer people are using them, but most of those who are gone, you wouldn't really want around anyway. Let them have their twitters and Facebooks. I'm good with forums. :techman:

Agreed I have no love for facepalm..I mean facebook

As incontrovertibly a newbie as I am, I would throw out the question of whether the general level of gravitas attached to program specific reviews has become somewhat diminished as we get farther and farther away from their original broadcast era. I'm thinking of something along the lines of The GodBen's Voyager Reconsideration. Perhaps I'm not very observant but I haven't really seen that level of "critical intensity" in my short time aboard.

Any time da Woim warned anyone / told anyone off. There was one rather...err...memorable (for all the wrong reasons) thread where he smacked down a number of posters; said smackdown was a thing of TBBS beauty. He had such a way with words.

I'd really, really like to know what happened to him. Hope he's okay. :(

That one time someone from the board was on CNN and mentioned Shatner because the board told him.

That guy was really cool.

If you're referring to the same one I was, I found it...

Me too. I had one brief contact with him after he disappeared, and then never heard from him again. He was awesome.

I'm always surprised/slightly envious of those who can post for many years and then just stop. I can be fine without the board, but as soon as boredom strikes me I'm off to TBBS again. I can't imagine ever giving this place up permanently. I think this site will have to leave me before I leave it.

Which by the way, happened to me last night with another site. I had been a member there for 15 years, hadn't logged in for a while, so I tried to go back and it's dead. :( I almost cried.

This is a good all around board to post at with forums for just about anything you want to discuss. I have two BBS home bases (so to speak), this place an a local Houston Texans BBS is my other. While sometimes I won't post for a while, I still read them.

I was just thinking about Niorah this morning. Now there's another great poster who hasn't been around for a long time.

Like Spot's Meow, I envy people who can be away from the board; the minute I start to feel bored or in need of distraction, I'm here. Since I work at home and have lots of downtime in the summer, this place is any easy entertainment/time-filler. Plus, it gives me at least a teeny-tiny bit of interaction with the outside world....sort of.
