"Great" episodes that you don't really care for

TheCity on the Edge of Forever. Nevevr thought it was that interesting or good in any way. I feel it's always lived on its own hype.

Am I also in the minority to think it stupid and silly when people say "Voyager emasculated the Borg." The Borg were probably the greatest threat Voyager encountered-apart from the Voth and species 8472.

Voyager Emasculated the Borg by having them run away from Species 8472. They should have just had Voyager witnessing one Species 8472 ship destroy 7 borg ships to show how powerful they were. Instead they just made the Borg look like Ferrengi's.

The Borg were shown to be conventionally unbeatable.

Even Q said there were worse things in the universe than the Borg to Picard.

The Borg initiated a conflict with an eldritch/really alien alien race that had a superior biology and super advanced ships.

They got their tails kicked.

In the Trek Milky Way I'd wager that the Borg are conventionally the strongest power. They have trillions of drones, millions of ships, countless planets and moons. All with a single purpose they have maximum social interest. There are no peace factions or politicking or internal affairs, even the dominion has to make sure the link is hidden, the Jem'hadar get their white and the Vorta don't get any ideas.

I imagine there are other powers that could defeat the Borg, say the Star Wars Galaxy for example, or I dunno some hypothetical intergalactic empire never encountered. The Culture, and so on.

But in the known Trek Galaxy the Borg are the strongest.

Even Janeway's actions in Endgame and the Unimatrix revolt didn't defeat the Borg, gave em a bloody nose and bruised groin but no it didn't defeat them.

Darmok. Precisely what is entertaining about two people saying nonsensical phrases for an hour? I get what they were trying to do but for me it didn't work at all.

I don't think Voyager emasculated the Borg in Scorpion. They did it in Dark Frontier and after. In Scorpion they were just as strong as they were in TNG, just facing an even stronger enemy. In Dark Frontier they somehow lose their ability to adapt and become emotional dominatrices who fail to establish repartee.

While I don't dislike it, I think "The Trouble With Tribbles" gets too much attention. "I Mudd" is funnier.

I never much cared for "Half a Life", "The Host", and "I Borg". After re-watching the blurays I was surprised how much less I enjoyed "Relics" and "Tapestry".

Some of the dialogue on "Trials and Tribblelations" is awful; Dax fawning over the TOS tricorders and props is so fanboy. I thought DS9's Season six 6 part opening was really lame(except for "Rocks and Shoals"). I hated the last Mirror Universe Episode "The Emperor's New Cloak".

I don't mind that Species 8472 was much stronger than the Borg, I just didn't like the Borg running away from them. The Borg are basically space Zombies, they're not supposed to have feelings like fear. It's part of what made them scary.

Don't look at it as fear but rather a strategic withdrawal thought up through pure logic.

In Scorpion when they beam over to the wrecked Borg ship the surving drones are conducting repairs.

They were losing ships, planets, drones en masse. It was a strategic retreat I don't think fear had much to do with it.

Maybe, but it's not unreasonable to think she'd appreciate the classic old designs. It's kinda like an automobile aficionado enjoying the design of classic cars, or a clothing designer marveling at beautiful old fashions.
She lived through that time though. Heck she lived at least sense the 21st century. Why would she be so awed at TOS?

It's been awhile since I've seen the scene, but it could be precisely because it was an era that she was fond of from personal experience. My dad would probably go nuts if he had a chance to sit behind the wheel of a 1950 Studebaker Champion again.

Yeah, and I admit I'm rather fond of that old style stereo equipment that was built like a tank and had dozens of knobs and dials and stuff. So I can see where Jadzia's coming from here.

I was just watching an old show in which somebody had one those big-ass console record players...that took me back.

I actually managed to sit through all of the Visitor a few days ago.

Okay it was still boring, Jake apparently goes through life encountering his father every so once and awhile.

When they have that country house and Sisko says wait. I was like its the 24th century Starfleet Sciene ought to have a team over there in minutes at the most.

Julian and Jadzia's make up wasn't very convincing. Nog joining Starfleet while certainly foreshadowing wasn't particularly special.

Losing both your parents and Jake being as sensitive as he is would probably hurt a lot but he'd endure.

It wasn't moving, and I was like okay pull off some technobabble and get him back.

A lot of people are critical of Voyager and TNG to a lesser extent for its reliance on technology. While from a thematic point this may be damning in a 24th science fiction/really light science fantasy using technology to solve problems seems really first nature.
