Grand Theft Auto IV

^GameFAQs is your friend.

There is no unlimited code but once you dial those cheat numbers on Niko's mobile it stays in the memory so you can just dial it again.

Has anyone purchased this for the PC yet? I was going to order it from Amazon and saw that it had over one hundred 1 star reviews out of 129 total reviews. I was kind of shocked since I have never had any trouble with a GTA game in the past. What the heck happened? Is it really as big a piece of crap as everyone is saying?

In a word yes:

Heavy DRM (the dreaded Securom)
Sign ins required for two different services to be able to play (Games for Windows Live and the Rockstar Social Club)
Very high system requirements
"Future proofing" that crashes the game if you put the settings beyond medium
Many glitches and problems
Inability to set the controls to how you might want them (for example, you cannot remap the right mouse button)
And many other problems

Definitely the worst of any of the GTA ports so far.

I do not like this already.

That's a bunch of crap too.

You can't remap the controls? Wow.

Usually the GTA ports are great, better then the consoles. I normally only look at reviews of the GTA games as a formality. This sucks. Guess I'm going to be playing through Sins of a Solar Empire before GTA 4 and hope R* gets the bugs worked out before I buy it.

Unfortunately the days of PC ports being better then the actual console version are long gone, i had the misfortune of buying the new bond game QOS for the PC....good what a mess, even on my high end PC its jerky and uncontrollable, and the graphics are just not up to par even on full, and the mouse and keyboard control just feel so slow and wrong,...and as a final kick in the nuts its a windows live game so you would think it would come with 360 joy pad support.....nope that would be asking to much.

PC ports of console games these day just seem to be crap with nothing done to improve them whatsoever.

I swear game companies trying to kill off PC gaming, its been one of the worst years IMO for PC gamers.

Much of this is because, outside of a rapidly dwindling enthusiast sect and the goobers who buy The Sims in droves, PC gaming is a largely dead market.
