Gracepoint (Broadchurch) Discussion

To fill the schedule, FOX showed the first two episodes back to back.

It had me giggling at least once every commercial break. The dialogue was hackneyed, the situations were cliched, the character development was hilarious. It felt like a send-up of an overly serious procedural.

I've never heard anyone describe Broadchurch as funny, but I imagine from this that it must've been.

I watched two episodes. I feel like I gave it a fair shot.

1. David Tennant's accent is pretty noticeable.
2. Virginia Kull is 32. She looks way too young to be anyone of the show's parent, though.
3. I think Michael Pena is miscast
4. The opening shot of Pena's character traipsing down main street chitchatting with everyone was so awkward. I would have changed the channel pretty quickly if I was a casual viewer.
5. Anna Gunn pitching a fit on the toilet was equally stupid.
And the list goes on... they tried to make a serious show with what looks like a lower budget than Broadchurch and failed.

Broadchurch wasn't funny. Gracepoint is crap.
