GR vs. JJ

The issue is not money or hot babes on a beach, it's getting someone who can write Star Trek again at least.

GR was commercially orientated first and foremost. You have to be to survive. But he did have an idealistic outlook that he took seriously. The two don't sit well together but they aren't mutually exclusive either.

GR didn't like what he didn't control. If he had made to a Billy Graham age would he have liked JJ's stuff? I dunno. I kinda doubt it tbh.

As long as Roddenberry was making money off it, he'd be fine with the Abrams movies. A nearly ninety year old Roddenberry watching Trek XI would only care about how much money was he getting off it, and if it was a decent number, he'd go back to his nap without complaint.

Money would influence how canterkerous he got. But he would still have opinions on the JJ stuff. Lets not give a lazy reading of Roddenberry here.

The fast paced JJ stuff wouldn't square too well with his favoured creation the slow paced TMP. I doubt he's have affection for the militaristic Starfleet that'd produce a guy like Admiral Marcus either.

I'm assuming in this scenario, if he made it to 90, he's likely a healthier person, including mental health and he remembers that his original vision of Star Trek was as an action series.

Are you talking about the stupid movies starting with TWOK and the subsequent seasons of TNG that he had no control over plus he was an old man or the first two seasons of TOS?

TOS. Gene's Own Words in the TOS Writer's Guide state that TOS was first and foremost an action series.

That undersells TOS. TOS wasn't the A-Team. Action was an important dimension of TOS OK but TOS wasn't restricted to that. .

Here's a commentary on the quality of the Abrams Trek movies: they're considerably better than a great deal of the Star Trek that Roddenberry personally approved and/or supervised. In every respect.

Exactly so.
