Gowron!!!

We watched THE WAY OF THE WARRIOR this weekend. And even though Gowron is hardly in it, he really is fun to watch. Robert O'Reilly is really a hoot, especially with how he can make his eyes buldge out when he's making a point....

Late last night I went back and watched Reunion on my own. Who would have that little part in that episode would explode into what it became. And how ironic that of all people to be the cause of Gowron's ultimate fate it would have been Worf....

Kudos to Robert O'Reilly. A scene-eating, over-the top actor who really, for me, made a memorable character!!! GOWRON!!!

"We do not forgive, or FORGETTTTTTT"
"Glory to you and your houuuuusssseee"

He was great. I love a ruthless-conniving-politician-asshole Klingon who proves by his existence what a bullcrap the talk about 'honor' is. :klingon: Especially when he can bulge those eyes like that! They distract me (in a good way) almost as much as Andorian moving antenae.

Gowron is probably as close as TNG era Klingons get to TOS Klingons. Sure Gowron dresses up his language with words like 'Honor', but really he is a cool, calculating politician.

There will be no disparaging remarks about the antenae!

Gowron's the best. An over-the-top emotional Klingon, the perfect antithesis to Worf.

I always liked - "You will die, slowly, Duuuuurasssss."

Are Gowron's eyes the most menacing thing in all of Star Trek. Not just in Way of the Warrior, but also his first appearance in Reunion, you take one look at the eyes and you just want to go hide somewhere.

Glory to you and your hoooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuuuse!!

That is one of the best lines in ds9 :)

Sisko makes a great Klingon.

He really was a great character. Easy to hate and always fun. I always loved his inflections and eye bulge.

"Glory awaits you...on Cardaaaassssiaaah."

You took my quote, lol. That is exactly what I was going to say.

Gowron the character and O'Reilly's acting were perfect.

I seen other threads about Gowron where people thought he over-acted, to which I say, SO WHAT? I have noticed, as I think many have, that the best characters on TREK are a bit 'hammy'. Q, Kirk, Gowron, Sisko, and that great scene chewer, Marc Alamo...they all chew scenes up and by doing so they create memorable characters...

I finished rewatching Season 4 of TNG the other month and when I saw Gowron first appearance the first thing I thought to myself was as he was being introduced to Worf was that Worf was going to kill him in 10 years time.

We just watched that not to long ago too...was ironic indeed that Worf was the one to do it....But Gowron became a glory hound and it had to be done...

Well Worf basically put Gowron in power, so he would be the one to take him out.

So basicly Worf was like Gowron's mom. :rommie:

I remember being shocked as hell when Worf killed Gowron. I mean...he's Gowron! Why would you kill him off?!

The thing I always liked in O'Reilly's performance was the way he would show his teeth when he was challenging or disparaging someone. I often wondered if he read John Ford's "The Final Reflection", as in that book the showing of teeth had alot of significance in Klingon culture.
