Politicians lie about their own agendas, just to get elected in the first place AND they do it in a completely crass and classless way for being so high and mighty. Then, once they're in, they refuse to cooperate, even for the Common Good, and become so gridlocked that they even have to shut down Capitol Hill, every blue moon, like they did a while back. There is absolutely nothing about Government that can be relied on, except for the fact that they'll always vote healthy raises for themselves.
Even when the CIA is investigated and ordered to reform its policies on torture, for example, it just comes off as a hustle. Torture isn't that useful or reliable, anyway, and the CIA's own records reveal this. So these laws being imposed on the CIA about that are inconsequential. And yet, they are broadcast and advertised to the American Public, to give the illusion of democracy at work. This isn't anything that the agency didn't want to have happen anyway.
Our government has no watchdog. It's run by wealthy elitists who only care about how to keep themselves in power and to keep their dirty laundry from getting aired. And We the People have no recourse. Yes, we can vote in somebody else, but only the wealthy elite can even afford to run! That's not reassuring. And worst of all real change is not easily arrived at. It's much easier for the government to force everyone to acquire healthcare than it is to force healthcare to reform itself. It's much easier to pass gun laws than it is to actually prevent gun crime. And there's no way we can have a revolution in this country to right these wrongs. We just have to rely on government to clean itself up.
