I remember one of my very first jobs, as a grocery bagger. We came up short one guy, an old fat guy, on payday. He called in sick -- couldn't work. A couple or so hours later he comes waddling in and picks up his check! The manager happens to walk to the front of the sotre to do something while this happens and she asks in a pissy tone,

I thought you were sick?"

He doesn't reply.

I had a roommate not long ago who called in sick just about every Friday, because he liked to get an early start on the weekend, getting both smashed and high on Thursday night. He couldn't drag his ass out of bed on Friday.

He ended up getting laid off, which came as no surprise to me since he just watched Hulu all day when he did go to work.
