Barbara wasn't teaching Selena to have her own power, but how to get men (and lesbians) to do every thing for her/them, because they want to #### them/her once they present the possibly that that's a maybe.

1. Kat would only be attractive to paedophiles or other (less?) equally powerless children. It's way too early for her to be trying to do that.

2. Sexy rich girl clothing might work in rich people land, but all that crap was going to do on the street was make her target for theft and rape. Ivy thought the clothing was beautiful, but she also knew how cold it is to sleep in a doorway, and there is no fricking way that she would leave that apartment wearing less than 5 layers of sexy rich girl clothing.

Was the eyeball scooping absurd? Yes, but frankly, I found Barbara telling Selina she's beautiful underneath it all just as absurd. Not for the reasons people have brought up, but because Camren Bicondova is covered in make-up in every single episode and doesn't look like she's actually living on the streets. That's why I have a hard time taking her storyline seriously. By all physical appearances, it's absurd.

It's great to see Jeffrey Combs again (and presumably he'll appear at least one more time), but damn he's gotten old.

It could be just makeup to make him appear old

Coombs played the Question in JLA Unlimited and then a series of Live action youtube movies that mirrored the current goings on at DC (Infinite Crisis? The one were Max caps Ted.)

A Question off between Coombs and Cartagena would be interesting.

I really enjoyed the Red Hood and Bruce/Alfred stories.
The whole thing with the hood was a lot of fun, and killing off the first Jokerish guy so quickly really caught me off guard. Who was that picking up the Hood at the end? I thought it might have been Jerome.
I do agree that stuff with Fish and the whole eye scooping scene was ridiculous. Although I did get a kick out of seeing Jeffrey Combs. So far I haven't minded the stuff with Fish and the her new family, but I'm hoping they don't drag it out to much longer. We need to just get her back to Gotham.
The stuff with Barbara and the girls was strange. That whole thing definitely feels like they are just trying to give the actresses something to do since they are in the cast. I did kind of like Cat when here stuff was connected to the whole hunt for the Wayne's killer, but all of this stuff they are doing right now feels unnecessary.
I really enjoyed the stuff with Bruce, Alfred, and Alfred's friend. That was a nice bit of character work for Alfred, and it had a pretty great twist at the end.
Penguin and Butch was fun. I liked Butch showing up and getting Penguins booze for him, that was pretty good.

Who was that picking up the Hood at the end? I thought it might have been Jerome.

No, Jerome's in jail, I imagine. I don't think it matters who it was; the point was that the Hood took on a life of its own. It's basically a virulent meme. (Hey -- it's a Stand Alone Complex! The Laughing Man -- how appropriate!)

Penguin and Butch was fun. I liked Butch showing up and getting Penguins booze for him, that was pretty good.

I really like Butch. He's great fun. Not that I generally like mobster-type characters, but Drew Powell gives a charming performance.

The Doctor in charge of the organ farm is on the board of Wayne Enterprises.

(Guessing, I'm guessing, I'm always guessing.)

The Board is a round table of evil.

Every other week or so we are going to begin to recognize the faces from that Board as being in charge of all the horible things that happen in Gotham.

I'm really curious to see what becomes of Butch when Fish comes back to Gotham.

I'm wondering if he really (was) turned against Fish or if he's still secretly loyal to her.

PS - Was it just me or was the Barbara/Kat thing a little disturbing & grooming like.

Yeah, I don't think that was exactly the intent, but between Barb's attitude and Selina's reaction at being touched there was something very uncomfortable about that scene. Perhaps it's just an artefact of the actress playing Barbara being a little too young to pull off the whole creepy surrogate mother thing the way Fish can.

Speaking of...yeah, Fish is crazy. Brutally pragmatic and with nerves of steel, but still bonkers.

If a male bi/homosexual character had said things like that to Bruce I think we would take it much differently. That being said, there was a little parallel with how Reggie was trying to ingratiate himself with Bruce with all his manliness and how Barbara was approaching Selena with feminine "weapons".

Barbara's age is unclear, but early twenties is not out of the question, which may mean she 8 years or so older than Selena. I certainly found her creepy enough.

The parallel with how Fish was training Liza didn't seem coincidental to me, but it was less about how Barbara resembled Fish (she didn't) but instead about how Selena was very different than Liza. Selena may in fact take Barbara up on her offer later, but it will be her choice and on her own terms or not at all. And to go back to Reggie/Bruce, Bruce was a lot more naïve about Reggie than Selena was with Barbara. Overall I found the exchanges with both kids interesting. And creepy.

with the violence and gore in this week ep I'm wondering if Gotham will be a later time slot with a high content rating for next season.

For a 7pm timelot with a PG rating (albeit with an additional content warning) it really seems to be pushing things.

I wouldnt mind the later slot. As the series goes along it should grow darker and darker with the police failing more often. Otherwise who needs Batman.

i agree strongly. With the pilot, i was watching with my 9 year old, but had to turn it off almost immediately.

so now we only share The Flash (and maybe Agents of SHIELD)

Then they may force the producers to wind the violence but more so the gore back a bit.

It's also not going to help with sales to overseas markets. If the broadcasters have to either shift time slot or censor the episode they might not be happy.

To a futher example. NCIS in Australia carries and M (mature) rating which means it can't be broadcast before 8:30pm. Monday's episode of Gotham would have probably pushed to an MA rating which means it can't air before 9:30pm unless they cut it. Can't be sure though as it seems to have been pulled after 4 eps down under.
