Gotham - Season 1

The thug that saved Christine?

Hero or rapist?

As far as a sexism goes, in this sliding time where the press uses one use flash bulbs that haven't bee used since the seventies(?), if this was the seventies, he now owns Christine because he beat up (verbally) another suitor and therefore "won" her because she is a prize and he is the Alpha dominating over all he surveys.

(Yes, I'm using Gorillas as a template because men didn't have to be more complex than that back then.)

Eddie as an old man fights Batman weekly.

Is he going to learn kung fu or does he already know kung fu?

I can see that thug sticking his hand down Christine's blouse because she "owes" him and Eddie riding in to save the day cutting his hand off.

I'm trying to think of a rack, even a celebrity rack worth losing a hand over?

Does not exist.

I could he wrong. He might just be a nice guy doing a good thing, but where's the drama in that?

(Let me try again.)

(I am describing the 70s before woman's Lib, which was before I was born, so please don't think that I think that this is how men and women treat each other today outside of New Jersey.)

Remember the first Back to the Future?

The hero moment.

George punched Biff, and Lorraine fell in love.

Heroism is always rewarded with true love.

It's a pretty standard contract.

What we saw in that file room was a hero moment.

Thug saved Kristine from Nigma.

Ergo Kristine loves Thug.

Unless she doesn't.

Even though the rules say that she's supposed to be irresistibly drawn to him now.

How is it Thugs fault if Christine is ignorant about the rules?

If you're playing a game and someone doesn't know the rules, you teach them.

He has to teach her to love him.

Now someone has to rescue Christine from the thug.

Why not Eddie?

So Eddie gets his hero moment, saving Kristine from Thug.

Which means that she has to be Eddie's girl now, until she finds someone else to beat up Eddie who will also expect to be rewarded for that gallantry with hugs and kisses, and won't be.

Do you see a pattern?

The moral of this story is that Kristine Kringle is a dead beat who does not pay her debts.

Actually I think Eddie will kill thug in a riddle themed manner and not get caught sending him down the path.

I'd rather he pulled a Dexter.

Just hanging out with the cops murdering whoever the #### he wants, while he every now and then tries to hunt himself unsuccessfully.

Imagine a season of that!?

Although, the Riddler is thief, not a serial killer.

What did Harvey Keitel say about murder?

Mr. White: The choice between doing ten years and taking out some stupid motherfucker, ain't no choice at all. But I ain't no madman.

Do you know the difference between learning the Tamarian Language and the Tamaran Language?

Kissing. The difference is a lot of kissing.

You're slipping, I actually got that after a few seconds.

And Trek totally could have gained some groundbreaking cred in the 90s by having Picard kiss the Tamarian captain to learn his language....

What was this thread about again, oh right Gotham.
I really enjoyed this one. I was glad to see Jim back in his old job, I didn't mind him going to Arkham for an episode, but I really didn't want to see that as an extended arc, which I was afraid they were going to do.
I'm a big fan of Christopher Heyerdahl, and enjoyed seeing him go full on comic book villain here.
I actually feel kind of bad for Edward at this point.
That was one hell of an ending. I must admit, I didn't expect to get that kind of story movement this early, but I can't wait to see where it goes.
After the preview, I'm wondering if Penguin gets Fish's bar? That was the impression I got.

Good episode, but where the hell are Bruce and Alfred?!

And Gordon defeating the Electrocutioner with a glass of water was hilarious

This episode was good, with Falcone's despondence eventually leading to his cold and calculating takedown of Fish and his unrepentant choking of Liza being the highlight of the episode for me, just for showing the depths the man can go to while maintaining a calm demeanor. It's good to remind people of how evil he can be in between all the scenes of almost grandfatherly sentimentality and reasonableness.

Barbara continues to suck the life out of every scene she's in, which is no knock on the actress (I liked Erin Richards in the show Breaking In), just the terrible character they've saddled her with.

Bruce and Alfred have apparently been studying the ways of the ninja the past couple episodes, since they've been invisible. But hey, at least we had time to check in with Barbara and her exciting storyline again (said no one, ever)!

And ELECTRO-cutioner --nice shout out

It's not a shout-out to Marvel's Electro. The Electrocutioner is an existing DC character created in 1981 by Marv Wolfman and Michael Fleisher. And of course the word "electrocute" predates the Marvel era by generations; it's been around since about 1889 as a combination of "electric" and "execute," coined to refer to the brand-new invention of the electric chair. (I never realized before that it was invented specifically for that. I guess its extension to refer to accidental fatal shocks came later.)

This episode was a work of art! Beautiful direction and cinematography, massive plot advancement, fantastic acting, mood up the wazoo, and making out with Morena Baccarin.

Gotham has been renewed for Season 2.

Good, there's plenty of unfinished business they need to take care of. :techman::techman:

I must be too mentally challenged to understand your post.

I think Mr. Gardener speaks a language only he fully understands.

He does. Just make gestures and go with it. If he tries to bite, use the spray bottle filled with water in the corner.

Good episode, but where the hell are Bruce and Alfred?!

Couldn't have said it better myself. That's two weeks without the boys. Having said that, it was a really good episode. Loved the ending. I hate to see Liza gone, but it was nice to see Falcone finally finding his cajones.

Really liked Gotham s1.looking forward to S2. It is definitely better than the flash. It makes sense why FOX is airing Gotham and not the CW considering most DC shows are aired on the CW. the flash to me is just too mushy.

When he paused, ever so slightly on the ELECTRO part...c'mon, how is it NOT a subtle shout out? It's not like the shout outs on the Flash...but enough to make me smile.
