Goosebump Moments

Hello.

I'm starting this particular thread to give voice to viewers who find themselves getting tingles from moments of sheer awesomeness that they might have been witness to.

For example, I recently rewatched "The Omega Glory" and marveled at the oration provided by Kirk as he reads and clarifies the Constitution to Cloud William. It was sheer brilliance. Especially when he puts the document in his hand with utter trust and respect that the "savage" will honor the words within. I just loved that!!!

Do you have any moments which just make you rejoice that you're watching something pretty special?

- Seeing the Enterprises side-by-side in the anomaly towards the end of "All Good Things." (TNG)
- Species 10-C finally connecting with humanoids through the person who was hurt most by them, Book. (DSC)
- Janeway shutting up Annorax with her ship. And the hug between Tuvok and Janeway, right beforehand. (VOY)
- Kira almost smashing the door panel when confronting Odo about what led to Rom's arrest. (DS9)
- Khan being powerless against the inevitable when the Reliant's shields are disabled. (WoK)
- Mariner's sarcastic Vulcan salute. (LD)

Archer calling the ship, and the reunion on the bridge with TPol after everyone believed he perished on the Xindi weapon still gives me major tingles!

"I am Locutus of Borg. Your life as it has been is over..."
"Mr. Worf... fire."

"..." - Admiral Thomas Henry, in "The Drumhead". He never says a word. He doesn't have to.

[Picard takes the flute out of the box, holds it tightly to his chest. Then he goes to the window... and begins to play.]

"Five card stud, nothing wild... and the sky's the limit."

"We're going to get a second... chance."
"Jake... my sweet boy."

[Jake stares out the window of DS9. And the camera pulls back... and back... and back... and back... and back...]

"Live long and prosper." [The Wrath of Khan and Year of Hell both]

"Time's up." WHAMMO!!

And goosebumps of a different sort in "Night Terrors" when all those corpses sat up; that scared the crap out of me.

I get goosebumps whenever Jean-Luc is on screen :adore:

Sorry. lol

I guess one particularly amazing JLP goosebump moment is my favorite moment of his - when he starts to laugh in the cargo bay in “Up The Long Ladder”. It’s such a genuine and cute moment (did I mention that he’s adorable or) and I love Riker’s surprise because laughter was the last thing he expected from his captain.

If we’re talking awesome JLP command moments I’d say the one where he owns Tomalak with the uncloaked Klingon ships. Or when he slowly dusts off the plaque on the bridge and delays his response to the Shaliak hailing him just to be petty because they jerked him around for an entire episode. My kind of guy. :adore::lol:

Enterprise in Spacedock ST III
- This! This! A thousand times this! The build up of everyone doing their part and getting into place, Enterprise 'waking up' and moving off, Excelsior powering up, the "will they/won't they" as they approach the space doors, and Scotty's 'miracle' all accompanied by the swelling music always gives me goosebumps. Even thinking about it does!

From the same film, I also get goosebumps when we first see Grissom approaching Genesis accompanied by it's little fanfare music theme.

One I happen to like is in "The Game"... Wes, apparently the last sane crewman standing, has been forced into a chair and the game is being forced on him... and his struggles go weaker as he starts to fall under its influence... then the room goes dark and the turbolift opens, and there's Data. And you know he's emotionless, but he still looks mad as hell and not gonna take it anymore.

"Goosebumps" is a differet phenomenon and reaction than "tears," or even saying "these are my favorite scenes."

I definitely get "goosebumps" from the following moments (just off the top of my head). I have no explanation as to why these scenes cause "goosebumps," but they do:

1. The first time Kirk sees the Enterprise in TMP
2. The Enterprise just narrowly edging out of spacedock, and the accompanying music in TSFS
3. Seeing the Great Barrier get and more visible through the observation windows in TFF...concluding with Sybok realizing he can't separate Kirk, Spock and McCoy, and leaving with "Am I....? We'll see..."
4. Picard saying "I'm moving back and forth.....through time!" in the teaser of ...All Good Things.
5. Q's rant at Picard in ...All Good Things, starting with "I believed in you...I thought you had potential" and ending with "May whatever God you believe in *snicker* have mercy on your soul."
6. Pike's recruitment speech to Kirk in the 2009 Star Trek film "You father was captain of a starship for 12 min..."
7. Seeing Sisko's face reflected in the escape shuttle's window, as he watches the Saratoga explode at Wolf 359.

The first few moments on the bridge of Voyager after it's pulled into the Delta Quadrant. Electric!

The 1701 rising into the sky of 1960's Earth as it tries to put distance between itself and Captain Christopher's jet. In original and remastered versions!

I love the whole scene in TWOK where Kirk is fucking with the Reliant’s command codes, but I always get a thrill when Khan’s shields drop (“RaaaAAAiz them!!!” / “I can’t!”) and Kirk says “Fire!”.

Good James Horner track in that scene as well. I always get chills.

Loved James Horner's score for The Search for Spock –

Torg, the Klingon taking over the bridge of Enterprise, hears the computer counting down: 9….8….7…6
And Kirk, watching the remains of Enterprise burning across the sky –
“My god, Bones, what have I done…”
“What you had to do. What you always do-- turn death into a fighting chance to live.”
