Spoilers Good Omens Season 2

I'm only episode 2, but it's been great so far. I always think of John Hamm as a very serious actor after seeing in Mad Men, but he has been absolutely hilarious as Gabriel/ "Jim". His method for organizing the books in the book shop is definitely unique.

He's been doing comedy for quite awhile, live action and animated.

I didn't enjoy it as much as the first season, but it was fine. Be interesting to see if they make a third, what with
Aziraphale set up to be corrupted with power

Just finished. Even moreso than S1, a quick wrap-up, which is normally not that gratifying. But everything else was so damn good, I really don't mind.

So, 2 ex-Doctors & 1 ex-Master, and I have to say, the new Beelzebub....seriously hot.

Finished the season. Tennant and Sheen were amazing as always, but I didn't care about the story around it (I still don't know why Gabriel's mind was wiped, was it because heaven hated his relationship with Beelzebub?), especially the stuff involving the humans. The best scenes were the flashbacks, I'd watch a whole show all about Tennant and Sheen's characters throughout time. Overall an ok show held up by an amazing double act. A potential third season is supposed to have a lot less of Crowley/Aziraphale so this is where my Good Omens viewing will end even if it gets a season 3, and it gave me enough good stuff with the main two characters to have been worth the watch.

Yeah, the actual reason for Gabriel to wipe his mind (I had figured he had transubstantiated into a human up until they revealed that) made very little sense. It was just there to have a red herring about the actual plot, along with him objecting to the next armageddon, as was Crowley and Azzy's very first scene in the season.

I get why they wanted/needed to give us a red herring to keep us guessing, it just turned out to be a really weak one that didn't actually check out in the end. Both he and Beelzebub could have simply gotten together and left without saying a word; little would have changed save that there wouldn't be much of a story there.

At least for them. Azzy still needed to get involved so that Metatron would recruit him for his new role, and Crowley needed the "we have to fake a miracle!" scenes to come to his realization.

But, I mean, any number of other situations could have been used for that. Even just the basic premise of erasing his memory as a scheme to escape Heaven was nonsensical. He could have simply escaped and came to Azzy to give him sanctuary, which you know he would because he's such a sweetheart.

Just sayin'; they really needed to work on the reasons for the red herring and mysteries that needed solving so that it made more sense. I get why they wanted both things, the execution just wasn't that great.

That said, I loved the season. Damn song's been stuck in my head for days... :angryrazz:

I don't see the Gabriel plot as a red herring. It was a direct parallel to the choices Aziraphale would make in the season finale (choosing armageddon and power or peace and love).

Gabriel hid his memories because those memories were about to be remotely wiped by the other arch angels (as punishment for not completing armageddon). Presumably, he didn't have time to get out of heaven, find his love, and escape to seclusion before the other arch angels would be able to complete the remote memory erasure.

Edit: also, it's clear that Gabriel's first choice was to stop armageddon and continue meeting with his love in secret, so it wouldn't have made sense for Gabriel to go off in seclusion with his love earlier in the storyline.
