Good/bad guest stars

Mick Fleetwod played Lwaxana's servant? I remember him playing an Antedian fish dude. I thought Mr. Homm was Lwaxana's servant all along, and Fleetwood didn't play Homm did he? :wtf:

Good: Jean Simmons is probably my favorite guest star in any of the Star Trek series. She was superb in The Drumhead.

Bad: Sabrina Le Beauf (The Cosby Show) in Gambit. She came off awkward and uncomfortable with the few lines she had.

Thanks for mention Jean Simmons. She did a great job, AND...her character was right about Picard!!!

As for the BsG finale--honestly, I say you should go into it with your OWN opinion...don't let anyone else try to provide you with one.

Jasad is one that stands out--acted like a total Klingon. No cunning, no subtlety whatsoever, no depth to the acting.

You know what episode had 2 great guest stars? VOY's "Future's End." Ed Bigley Jr. and Sarah Silverman were great in the roles they had. Heck, I watched Sarah's show once and I didn't know she was that vulgar because she seemed so much better in the Trek episode.

Worst guest stars? Probably Bernie Casey in DS9's The Maquis. He looked like someone who didn't want to be there. Thank god they tried again with Eddington with better results.

Yeah, Bernie Casey wins Worst Maquis. Which is good news for Robert Beltran, since he'd get that honor otherwise.

Another bad casting, I thought, was that of John Shuck as Cardassian in some DS9 episode. I just didnt buy him as a cardassian. As the klingon ambassador from the movies? Yes..but his take on a cardassian didn't thrill me...though, he is usually a great character actor...i think he holds the distinction of being the first actor to say the F word in an american movie..MASH...

Why not? It was great to see a fat Cardassian for once... It's not like they can all be athletic. And he worked perfectly as a legate from the Central Command... he was like a Cardassia's answer to those Starfleet admirals who just sit and make decisions and haven't participated in any actual fighting for years (and who usually annoy out captain-heroes with their bureaucratic approach).

Paul Sorvino in "Homeward". Take a very mediocre script and put a very recognizable actor in a role which doesn't suit him. He had no credibility as being Russian nor had any chemistry with Michael Dorn which defeated the effort of creating sibling rivalry between them.

I loved Jennifer Hetrick as the character of Vash. She was just too cool!

Like Q, I love the way she forced Picard to lighten up and really challenged his extremely disciplined manner as he had to try exceptionally hard to maintain his cool whenever she was around. She was such a delightful foil for him.

A lot of that was in the writing of the character, but it takes a really charismatic actress to nail it as well as Hetrick did. Her sitting in Picard's chair seductively with her legs up is one of my all-time favourite TNG moments.

:techman: I agree completely! I also love the way she caresses the armrests as she is sitting in the command chair. Talk about working a prop!

Tekeny Ghemor, while much more in proportion than Parn, was also not a small man. I also had the thought that in Cardassian society, some extra pounds might be a status symbol. Remember that we know they've had times of famine...and just like in medieval society, and some other societies today, extra pounds mean that you aren't worrying about food on the table, or having to work as a laborer.

I don't know about that... I imagine that military people are expected to be physically fit, and that they receive a very gruelling training in their youth (and all the guls and lower ranked officers and soldiers we've seen have been slim and fit)... until you get to the highest rank, when it doesn't matter anymore. Wasn't Parn the first Cardassian legate we ever saw on Trek? According to Memory Alpha, In the DS9 Companion, Ira Steven Behr notes that John Schuck's casting as Parn was designed to show that not all Cardassians had athletic figures. But I always thought that it was a visual reminder that his job probably just consisted of sitting in Cardassia City and making decisions with the rest of the Central Command and relaying orders. A trip to DS9 to speak to the station's commander is the most "hands-on" work he ever does.

I have nothing against Shuck's weight...i found his perfomance lacking...

Rob
Could that be because the character didn't fit your idea of a Cardassian military figure?
