Good/bad guest stars

did anybody mention christopher plummer's general chang in st6? possibly the most accomplished actor ever in st, and his performance was outstanding.

I don't know about that... I imagine that military people are expected to be physically fit, and that they receive a very gruelling training in their youth (and all the guls and lower ranked officers and soldiers we've seen have been slim and fit)... until you get to the highest rank, when it doesn't matter anymore. Wasn't Parn the first Cardassian legate we ever saw on Trek? According to Memory Alpha, In the DS9 Companion, Ira Steven Behr notes that John Schuck's casting as Parn was designed to show that not all Cardassians had athletic figures. But I always thought that it was a visual reminder that his job probably just consisted of sitting in Cardassia City and making decisions with the rest of the Central Command and relaying orders. A trip to DS9 to speak to the station's commander is the most "hands-on" work he ever does.

That's part of it...but I think of legates as a cross between military leaders and political ones. Plus, since they're the ones making the rules and enforcing them on everyone putting on extra weight wouldn't be an issue as far as military regulations go. (And like I said, it might also be a sign of status in Cardassian society, which makes it a less "unfavorable" appearance for them when they go on camera, than it might be in an Earth military.)

I agree..and I'm glad he stuck to his guns and wouldn't let them do the entire "Turtle head" klingon makeup with him..in fact, I think his "klingon" look was the way TREK should have gone in the first place...

Carolyn Seymour was a wonderful guest star in TNG's First Contact and Face Of The Enemy.

Yep...I forgot to mention her two appearences as Romulans in another thread where we were discussing good/bad romulan actors. She has to be the best female Romulan actress in TREK history..agree?
