Starring Ben Affleck, Rosamunde Pike
Directed by David Fincher
Rated R
2 hours, 25 minutes
I saw this gripping and suspenseful mystery drama based on Gillian Flynn's novel and thought it was pretty good. It's one of Ben Affleck's better roles in a movie, where he plays Nick Dunne, a small-town bar owner who becomes the suspect in the disappearance (and possibly the murder) of his wife Amy.
The film has been positively received by critics. It paints the picture of a seemingly happy married suburban couple, whose union is marred by infidelity, lies, mistrust, and resentment, all the while keeping up appearances. It's a social commentary on America's media circus and the court of public opinion involving a case of domestic dispute.
