Goldeneye 64 for the Wii?!

I can't lie: the portion of Dam shown in that video looks pretty slow and plodding compared to the fast-paced action of the original. Maybe it'll be good, but my hopes aren't terribly high.

Must... have!!!!

The memories I have of playing the original, one of the best games ever.

Yes, that looks awesome....

(And I do own the original Goldeneye, but this one looks several times better).

Daniel Craig is also awesome; I just don't like the revamped Bond theme they always use for him....;)

Are you and I remembering the same game? One of the more notable things about Goldeneye was its support for 'stealth', i.e. 'slow and plodding' approaches, and certainly Dam encouraged it; starting you off with a silenced PP7 and then handing you a silenced sniper rifle, with open space in which to use it and a low density of enemies.

i thought that video looked pretty cool.

i havent played GE64 in years, but i suspect many people are remembering the single player with rose colored glasses... at least, i know i did with Perfect Dark... yikes, that game, for single player is a mess... i dont know how i got through levels back then. the mission briefing was not informative and the objectives were very vague. i cant imagine GE had better level flow and layout.

Stealth or no, the pace was still quick. It didn't take long at all to dispatch the first three guards, grab the rifle, snipe the two in the tunnel, and then charge at the pillbox. I've always found that straight up run 'n gun action was part of the appeal—there's not a lot of fancy set pieces, you generally just dive in and go.

Just thought I would let everyone know that according to the new issue of Nintendo Power Facility and Archives will return as multiplayer maps, along with additional classic and new maps.

I have the manual for the 64 version, but not the game! RAWRRR! D:<

(And the game looks cool BTW)

The long awaited DS screenshots released:

This is the version i'll be getting as I don't have a Wii. It doesn't quite have the Goldeneye 64 aesthetic I was expecting, it's closer to N-Space's COD DS titles. But from the previews i've been reading the elements that are the most faithful to "Goldeneye" are the gameplay, interface and music more than the visuals.

Looks shiny. I might have to get it after I am done with Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Fable 3. Maybe for Christmas.

The multiplayer looks like fun and I love that is on the Wii (where online play is free, yay).

Personally I wish they'd hold off on the DS and just allocate their resources to developing a 3DS version to coincide with the launch of the console. What a kick-ass console premier that would be!

They probably just want to chuck it out with the Wii version (and have both come out in the pre-christmas shopping season).
