Gold Key Star Trek Comics ?

Nero's Shadow

Does anyone still like reading these comic stories I've always liked these comics and stories. Some of the first issues are very diffrent to the star trek we know the art work is very diffrent uniform colours are diffrent there side arms look like ray guns and they sometimes carry back packs but ignore that and you have some great trek comic stories.

I've started to collect star trek annuals with these stories. Does anyone else like these star trek comics.?

I love Gold Key Trek comics. I got most of the old UK annuals, then some of the more recent collections, then finally filled in the blanks with the comic collection DVD.

The reason it looks so weird is that the artist (some Italian guy whose name escapes me) had never seen the show and only had a few publicity photos to work from. He must've not had a Scotty pic - gotta love that blonde hair and green shirt!

Yeah I noticed the 1st issues there uniforms and hair colours are wrong I even noticed that in one issue uhura was White.? Love the green uniforms I've got some annuals how many comics did they do .?

I'm almost certain the first comic book I ever read was a Gold Key Trek comic. Yeah, I remember the green shirts and the flames coming out of the Enterprise's warp nacelles...

For Gold Key Trek comic lovers, here is the UK equivalent - so blissfully ignorant of Star Trek that the first few issues star "Captain Kurt". They're all there for free, legit download along with loads of post-TMP comics. Neither set are on the Star Trek Complete Comic Collection DVD.

That's a GREAT link. Thanks!

I have all the Gold Key issues on a DVD that was published a few years ago, and I've been slowly reading my way through them on my iPad. They're a lot of quirky fun - as if Star Trek had been produced by Roger Corman.

 @ #27. "The Enterprise ignites a civil war on a doomed planet." They're already doomed, right? :p

The Gold Keys were charmingly naiive about the show -- they seemed to be using recycled plots from the 1930s pulp magazines.

I seem to recall one story where the Enterprise crew blasted a whole planet to oblivion because of some semi-dangerous plants, and were quite proud of doing so. So much for new life forms and prime directives.
