Godzilla, Kong, Gamera & Co.: The Kaiju Mega-Thread

A new Godzilla anime has been announced.

The plot is about a boy who possesses the powers of Godzilla. It'll be animated by Orange, who previously did Godzilla: Singular Point.

It's a rather bizarre-sounding idea. I'd rather see a second season of Singular Point, which was a marvelously intelligent and thought-provoking series (although it kind of felt as if the kaiju were just tacked onto the story the writers really wanted to tell).

I'm sure it's probably just a coincidence, but IDW's current "Kai-Sai" era Godzilla comic follows a similar premise, with the main character in that also being a kid with Godzilla's powers.

Well, that's a retcon. From the description, it's going to depict Shaw on a mission during the time when M:LoM season 1 said he was in forced retirement. Though I guess they can fit it in with the tried-and-true "classified" excuse -- which has already been used in season 1 for some elements introduced earlier in the timeline than the movies implied.

SpaceGodzilla will officially appear in ‘Godzilla x Kong: Supernova’

SpaceGodzilla is a weird choice. Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla was easily the worst of the Heisei-era Godzilla film series.
Probably because the Monsterverse seems determined to embrace the Showa era zaniness since Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla feels like a throw back to the Showa films.

this spinoff does makes sense like what did he do after he escape that stuck in time universe and returned but found out was in the future and stayed the same age in the 1980s

Yeah, of all the kaiju they could have used for the next movie, that is definitely not one I would have expected.

The movie did give us an updated version of MOGUERA, which, IMO, was better looking visually than the updated MechaGodzilla.

Kaiju YouTuber PaperFinz just released a very insightful video about the various adaptations of Godzilla '54 into other media:

It's part of a series, and I can recommend PaperFinz videos in general.

What the hell?! What happened to PaperFinz YouTube channel?

Looks pretty cool. Do we know yet where this takes place in relation to the movies? I know we had the time jump at the end of the first season, but I wasn't sure if we were getting another smaller jump at the start of the new season or if it was picking right where it left off.

Okay, after some digging I learned that PaperFinz' channel had been hacked to promote some crypto scam, which caused YT to delete the channel. PaperFinz. the guy behind the channel, is currently trying to get his channel back. I hope he succeeds, that was one of the best kaiju-related YT channels of them all.
