Gloria Stewart (Titanic) passes away at 100

Flying Spaghetti Monster

Vice Admiral

Hello
imdb is reporting that Gloria Stewart has passed away at 100/ This would be just shy of the ager her famous character was.

Regardless of whether or not you liked the film, you gotta admit that she was excellent in it. A great way to reignite her career.

Winslet and DiCaprio obviously got the most attention for the movie, but her part was really vital to the success of it (her description of how many people went into the water when the Titanic sank is one of the most powerful moments in the film).

I agree. Her performance, and line deliveries were understated. I knew a Titanic expert who thought she might be a real survivor. Basically, that means that she not only nailed the role, she hit it out of the park. Amazing, too, is that they aged her with make-up to look older, and she hated that. She also hated that Cameron put her in a helicopter. LOL

Only just a few days ago, I was looking up a list of the current longest lived celebrities, and only then had I realized she'd passed the century mark. :(

RIP, Ms. Stuart. Loved her in everything I've seen her in. I think I'll pop in The Invisible Man in her memory.

Heard it on the news earlier. She had a good life and a good career.
RIP fair lady, you have earned it.

I posted this in the other thread, not knowing that this thread was here first:

Google Images has photos that showed what she looked like back in the 1930's and 40's. Wasn't she a dish?

Funny that--with a thirty-year break--she has starred in movies since the early days of talkies, but she is mostly famous for a role she played only thirteen years ago.
