You know that's not even funny, because global warming is literally caused by humans bringing the dinosaurs back from the oil wells into the atmosphere. The big mystery now is how the dinosaurs kept from freezing to death before humans came along,

Just the other day I read something that said global warming is on vacation for a few years, or something like that.
That's Sen. Jim Inhofe who coincidentally received nearly two million dollars in donations from coal and oil industry since 1999 and is sadly chairing the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works.^But I thout a US Senator had proven that climate change wasn't happening because he brought a snowball into the chamber. No offense to our American cousins but that's just embarrassing.
The implication that there is one single cause of climate change certainly should make one pause to think.I'm really amazed that knowing that 97% of all climate scientists agree that humans are the cause doesn't give them a moment to pause and think about it before acting like it's a scam.

No, we're just contributing to it more than anything else. So while it may not be the cause, we are the main cause. Is that clear enough for you? Scientists do research on this and have looked at other possible factors like the sun and other natural causes. But those have been ruled out. What they have found is that gases that weren't present in high amounts until the Industrial Revolution have lead to the increase in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. The implication that there is one single cause of climate change certainly should make one pause to think.I'm really amazed that knowing that 97% of all climate scientists agree that humans are the cause doesn't give them a moment to pause and think about it before acting like it's a scam.

In what way should I change my mind? I already believe mankind has the capacity to affect climate just as we have the capacity to affect landscapes and biodiversity.Maybe you should actually think for yourself and read scientific research... But that might cause you to change your mind and you're dead set against that happening.

Then why would you act like you didn't unless you just want to play pretend or troll a science forum by denying science? In what way should I change my mind? I assume the question is rhetorical, but for the sake of fairness:That's a question we could all ask ourselves, JM. How has it affected your personal actions?
Do you drive an electric car? A hybrid at least? A small car with insane mpg?
Do you use public transport as often as possible?
Do you refuse to have air conditioning because it wastes so much energy?
That's cute. Let's ignore science and just get along. Maybe if we all sing Kumbaya together the planet will fix itself.Humans are human. Prone to mistakes. Just because 97% of people said that the earth was flat didn't make it so. There's evidence that a lot of the "science" surrounding man-caused climate change was faked. It's not a ton of evidence, but it's there.
I'm of the opinion that it doesn't matter how much money you throw down a hole, it's still a hole. Just saying "but we have to do something" doesn't mean that anything we do will make any difference. It's the epitome of humanity's hubris to think that we can change the climate of a planet (or, as some say, alter its orbit around the sun) just because we're here and using the resources that we find.
If people are so worried about our effect on the planet, they should throw away their technology and live off the land. No iPhones, no internet, no petroleum. Set the example, and maybe others will follow.
Instead of blasting people on a Star Trek forum, how about trying to persuade China to not pollute so much? Oh, but that's hard.
Big Jake, get a sense of humor for crying out loud. I just pointed out the existence of the article without trying to get all goony about it. Pull your thing out of your thing and laugh or something.
We all live together on this rock. It's pretty sweet. How about we not bitch at each other and get along?

If 97% of climate scientists are wrong, I'd actually like to see peer-reviewed research to support the claim. I'll help you get published and then fly you to accept your Nobel Prize.
