Giving apes Internet

OK, so apparently someone decides it's a good idea to give tablets to apes so they can video chat with each other between cells.

I really don't want too see how ape Chatroulette would look like...

But seriously, I think that's a great idea, it might give apes incentive to learn basic things about using a tablet. Whatever the result is, it has the chance to be a very interesting experiment.

Think about it, tablets interfaces are mostly limited to pictograms, so an ape can be trained to use it for the basic things - maybe even launching an app and stopping an app. There's some potential to try if it can learn something on its own, though I doubt it will have any success, but we ought to try.

At the very worst, it will be the most high-tech gadget an animal has actually used, think about the comedy gold factor.

Judging by the average level of discourse and the degree of literacy on the internet, I’d say apes have already been online for years now.

There's a reason why they don't let Bonobos in zoos, you know.

Though each time I visited a zoo, for some reason there was live porn going on in one of the primate cells. And the children were watching! The horror!

Last time I took pictures, so if anyone is interested in lower primate porn...
