Give me a good reason

I want to start by saying that I am not making this post to troll.
It is not my intention to anger anyone, and now on to the post...

I saw the movie while it was in theatres and absolutly hated it, but took pleasure in the fact that I only paid 3 bucks for it. Fast-forwarding to now I noticed the move in a RedBox nearby and think I may want to give it another chance, if for nothing else then just pretty entertainment value.

But I'm still on the fence so I'm looking for someone to give me that push over the edge to spend the $1 on the rental.

It's not my intention to troll you. But maybe you should rent "Willow" instead. I think it has trolls in it. Also, LOTR.

Well, one of two things will happen. Either you'll find that it wasn't as bad as you thought when you first saw it, or you'll dislike it just as much this time around. Either way, JJ Abrams will still get your money, so I say go for it:)

There is an entire forum here + all the reviews if you want to convince yourself. It's just one dollar.

If you don't like it, don't waste your time.

But if you do watch it and dislike it again, don't spend the next year trolling every single STXI thread telling everyone who does like it how dumb they are for doing so.

Because then you'd look like a complete lunatic.

I'd hate for anyone around here to come across that way.

This is true. If you're so worried about losing a dollar to a film rental that you already hate, may I suggest instead to take that dollar to your local strip club and put it in some dancer's garter belt. At least then you'll see boobies.

My advice would be: if you really want to see it and the rental is only a dollar, then go ahead. If you don't, then save the dollar for something else.

It's an enjoyable Big Dumb Action Moive that is pretty much true to the characters of Star Trek, but ditches oretty much everything else (including logic, consistency and common sense). Anyway, it has Bones calling Spock a "green-blooded hobgoblin". What more could you want?;)

My ST friends and I went to ST V with great trepidation, worried that Shatner's ego was going to permeate the movie. And it did. But we certainly got our money's worth each time we went to the cinema to see it. It was hilarious, especially when Kirk was climbing El Cap and the sun literally shone out of his ass!

I bought an ex-sell-thru VHS of ST V (instead of new like the rest of my collection) but have happily picked up two DVD versions. It's a baaaaaad film, but worth any amount for a good laugh with friends.

If you do the same for JJ's film you'll have fun. Invite over some other JJ haters and turn the movie into a drinking game. But don't invite me, 'cos I loved it.

I'd say rent it and know the flaws in a concrete fashion so that your arguments are well informed.

I'd just buy a whole lot of copies of it, but don't ever watch it. That'll show Abrams!

I wouldn't spend a dollar on something I didn't like, but then I wouldn't start a topic on the Internet asking strangers to talk me into spending a dollar on something I didn't like, either.

Crappy movies don't deserve second viewings. There are so many good films yet unseen.
