Did anyone watch this show this last week? I've heard a ton of good things about it and watched in onDemand tonight and actually enjoyed it. I didn't laugh once though, but I liked seeing the characters (especially Hannah, played by series creator Lana Dunham) set up and things get put in motion. I'm willing to give it a few more episodes to see where it goes (And I would like to see more of the HBO series') but just wondering what everyone else thought.

One concern I have is being a guy this doesn't really fit my demographic, but I'm not sure if I care. It is good to see a show dominated by women and I hope they can pull it off with this one. I also like Judd Apatow, which is probably another reason I wanted to see this.

know your enemy.

You know that woman are the enemy?

They are.

Sex and the City was counter intelligence and misdirection.

1/2 a billion men learnt the wrong social cues that trapped them in the wrong marriages.

Girls.

I like it.

But it's not a sitcom.

This is a short drama.

Short dramas are weird because there are so few of them out there other than Weeds.

There's everything Andy Kaufman ever said, or I'll remind you of some classic lines from Doctor Who...

"I like this, it makes me feel sad."

"Why on earth do you want to feel sad?"

"Sad is happy for people with depth."

:)

Not a comedy.

Funny things happen.

But still not a comedy.

In life if funny things never happened, it's time to check out.

I found out about this last week and it was described as "Sex and the City with 20-something girls". Now, having seen it on demand, I like it. It is Sex and the City, but it's more raw and real with the way it avoids style and sensationalism and tacles the issue of entitlement and being supported by one's parents. I also heard that the show opened with two people having sex doggie style. This was false. It didn't come until a good 10 minutes in. I plan to stick with it, but I'll most likely wait until the season is over so I can watch the whole thing.

Lena Dunham looks like Mayim Bialik, by the way.

I really enjoyed the initial episode too. It was somewhat difficult for me to watch, though. I've been going through something very similar with my daughter over the last couple of years. My heart kind of ached when Lena began "begging" her parents to continue their support.

Looking forward to the next episode.

Pretty good second episode, even though I still don't think the show is funny. I almost see it more of a half hour drama and a pretty good one at that.

Saw the first two episodes and i'm already out.. it's not funny at all. I get the premise but the whole show is just not that entertaining.. at all.

I thought the third episode was the best episode so far. Things seemed a little more funnier but really enjoyed all the storylines, and references to GSN's Baggage and one of my favorite Robyn songs.

I never expected the show to be laugh-out-loud funny because I never thought of it as an outright comedy. I just saw it as an entertaining half-hour drama that looks at life's foibles.

It's also been renewed for a 10-episode second season.

I give Lena Dunham credit for creating, writing, directing, and starring in the show.

And Brian Williams' daughter is adorable.

Thought the first episode was awful, but as it goes on the show is growing on me. I think it was the 3rd and 4th episodes which made me start liking it.

I have to say, it's a pretty accurate representation of a certain kind of woman in her post college 20s. As a guy who's somewhat older (but not so much older that it would be weird to date a girl in her early 20s), I'm finding it entertaining but also a useful reminder of what to avoid! Marnie's character in particular (she's the chick with the bf who's too nice, and who gets turned on by the whole manly 'i'm gonna fuck youuu hard like a man woof woof' dude, but still won't break up with too-nice-guy). Watching the show made me realize I'm dealing with my own Marnie, a textbook case of a "doesn't really know what she wants" and inspired me to say "i'm done with this" and move on.

I'll keep watching.

Is this a thing?

Fucking in/through windows?

It does seem symbolic.

Exiting the house as he's entering her?

Boffing simultaneously inside and out?

Crossing one threshold in preparation for crossing another threshold.

Gods.

What a laugh.
