Ghostbusters: We're Finally Ready to Believe You

I have the game!

Now I just need to get through another interminable day of work. I should close the office and tell my employees it's a Holy Day of Obligation.

Picked it up early this morning, and I've been playing a little of it today. (Ah, the benefits of being a teacher and having nothing to do in the summer...)

Pretty fun so far. Lots of nostalgic feelings seeing the old gang back together. Like a lot of people, as a kid I always wanted to put on the proton pack bust some ghosts. Hearing Ray, Egon, and the like makes you feel like you are playing a part in a new Ghostbusters movie!

We'll see if the game holds up the entire way. Back to playing...

God damn, the PlayStation 3 version really did get gimped in the graphics department:

One example, off the top of my head, is The Orange Box for 360 and PS3. In that case, the PS3 was just a port done by EA so it was gimped in a few ways. Yet in this case Ghostbusters seems to have had all of its versions done by the same company.

Oh well. Good thing I have a 360 I suppose!

This is horseshit.

If it wasn't that I'm spending thousands of dollars on my wedding right now, I'd by an X360 for this game :(

I was going to go in today and trade in my copy of CoD: WaW for this at EB, but it appears that Canada gets the game June 30th :(

I'm an idiot... forget I said that... stupid Future Shop had 2 listings for the game up on their site with different release dates and different covers :p

Is now a bad time to say I've never seen a Ghostbusters movie?

Should I watch the movies before playing this game?

I would say you should. For one, they're awesome films and the best of Harold Ramis' work, IMO. Also, you'll understand a lot more of the "in" references throughout the game. You can buy both movies in a two pack on DVD for a nice, cheap price.

The 360 version did not fair to better either bug wise...here is a real dozy of a bug i found just a few hours ago, just goes to show that the Devs seem to have been lazy across the board when it comes to the game.

I started playing around noon today, it is nearly 6pm now. I think I am pretty close to the end. I think the combination of all of the slime and getting knocked around has made feel a bit physically sick.

At first I didnt like how long it took to get a ghost captured but it slowly started appealing to me.

Oh well, I am going to take a break from it until I do not feel so sick. There are some games that do that to me and this is one of them unfortunately.

Right, couldn't be constraints from the publisher or budget related reasons or pressure from the IP owner to release by a certain date or anything like that... must be lazy developers.

Anyway, picked it up during lunch. The french manual is mocking me from beside my keyboard.

Yeah, I ran into a bug when I was playing earlier. A ghost got stuck on the upper part of a roof and there was nothing I could do to get it unstuck. And since the game is heavily linear, things would not progress until it was captured. So, I had to restart fortunately there was a checkpoint right before this happened so I didnt lose anything but still a ghost shouldnt be able to get stuck anywhere.

Stop whining, we don't get it till the end of the year...

Speak for yourself - I wholly intend on buying it Friday for the PS3!

At last, my Playstation is a games console again. :D
Fuck you too.
I suppose I could import it...

BTW Bob, I think BBC News ran an article a few days back stating the US 360 version of Ghostbusters IS Region Free.

After hearing about the shoddy resolution (and the fact that Trophies just ARENT as good as Achievements) I may beg a friend to pick me up a copy from the States. Or eBay. :p
