Ghostbusters: We're Finally Ready to Believe You

Well over on Play Asia they are showing both the NTSC/J and the NTSC/US versions of the new Ghostbusters games as region locked, and play Asia have been spot on in the past....

Play Asia was a great place to get cheaper games for the 360 that were region free, and when the pound exchange rate was not in the toilet as it is now you could get new 360 games for £24 delivered to you door.

Brilliant site, its just a pity the the pound took such a bad dive.

And your right BOB, amazon wont ship stuff like DVD and games to other regions.

I've had R1 DVDs from them in the past...

Does it say they're region locked? When I looked yesterday it just had a question mark...

Ah, this game looks so sweet! It's a shame it won't be out on XBOX 360 in Europe anytime soon, but I certainly hope it will get here eventually.

Two brief questions:

- Do US 360 games play on (un-modded) European consoles?
- Does Amazon.com even allow you to import US games from Europe?

Depends on the game, some distributors region lock them, some don't.
I don't believe Amazon exports games, but there are other sites who do. Movietyme.com, play-asia.com and cd-wow.com are ones I've used from time to time.

Thanks! I've ordered from CD-Wow before. So I'll check them out first.

Is there any site that posts information on which games are region locked, by any chance?

EDIT: I just noticed Haggis and Tatties's post. A shame they the game seems to be region locked :(.

Play-asia has a list here, at the minute it looks like Ghostbusters is unknown, they just have question marks next to Pal.

You probably bought from a third party seller on Amazon, i have also bought the occasional R1 DVD from third party sellers on the US amazon.

As for GB being region free, play Asia usually have all the region stuff up just before launch, its not looking good that they got ? beside the other regions......but you never know.......but with the NTSCJ one coming in at just under £34 delivered and the NTSCU/C one coming in at a whopping £43.51 i for one wont be partaking from the Pasia fountain.

Bloody exchange rate for the pound has killed my cheap games importing.:(

A lot of the time now you can pick the european release up cheaper from Amazon than Play-asia now.

No it was definitely from Amazon themselves. Dr Horrible, A Dog's Breakfast and a Mystery Science Theater 3000 DVD are the ones that spring to mind right now.

^^You could be right, its been a few years since i bought anything from amazon US, the last thing i bought was the R1 DVD of Captain Invincible(unreleased on DVD r2)...I'm sure when i tried to buy anything from them its started no sales to the EU and the likes, but its been a while.

As a matter of fact i might give it a go with a cheap PS3 games, see what happens.

Well i just tried to buy Star wars the complete saga on PS3, price $19.99..........Shipping charge $35.98.........total charge $63.79.......I think i will pass on that import bargin if your dont mind..

What's the worst that could happen?

Maybe it's certain distributors who bar them from selling to other countries?

The one time I bought from Amazon.com was when I got the nuBSG Mini series and S1 - 3 soundtracks. I can't quite remember how much they charged for shipping. But it certainly wasn't anywhere NEAR what they're asking for in your case.

Just out of interest: How did you arrive at the $63,79 price point? Shouldn't it be $55,97? That would be about £35, I think, which is still not worthwhile, mind you . Or did you include customs?

^
Sounds good. I don't know the site though, mind you. Are they reliable?

Yeap its filtering down that the NA version of the game will be region free....Play asia have that version delivered for £43.51.

GB region free NA version

Seeing i have a PS3 i will no doubt get that version, game connection is doing it for £31.99 delivered.....:)

Funny thing is the NA version of the game on both the 360 and the 360 both come in at £41.11, but the Asia PS3 version comes in at £34.77.....yet all version are classed as in English.

Strange one that, maybe they know that the game is going to be a big seller on import and have hiked the price, i remember they did the same with PGR4, its was £24 pre order and delivered for the NTSCJ version which was region free, then a week after launch it went up a £10.......supply and demand i suppose.

I've been anticipating this game for a long time; I can't wait for next week!

Wasn't it initially supposed to be released a few months ago?
