GHOSTBUSTERS 3 shooting this fall?!?!?!?

JKTim,

I love your avatar. I had that game for the Apple II. I loved it, but could never get past that part of the game.

And Jurassic Park 4 started filming in the summer of 2004, and the fall of 2005, fall of 2006, fall of 2007, and fall of 2008!

So I guess we are getting 5 JP4 movies! Awesome!

I know Rick Moranis retired from show biz many years ago. Ernie Hudson certainly hasn't had a lot of work in recent years, so I can't imagine he'd say no.

Again, the script's the thing.

True about Ernie. Although I did see him in a season 3 episode of BONES last year! He played the prosecuting attorney.

I dunno, I wouldn't be surprised if the prospect of Ghostbusters 3 lured Moranis back to show biz for a little while, at least for a small role.

He was the only holdout from the upcoming Ghostbusters video game, which would have been a lot less work than appearing in a movie. (Supposedly, Bill Murray performed his dialogue for the game while on a golf course. Terminal Reality had to send a sound crew to record it.)

I think Moranis is done, really.

Anyone remember that “Ghostbusters” cartoon from the late 80's that should've been called “The Fake Ghostbusters”?

In fact, when the Ghostbusters cartoon came on actually based on the 1984 film, they made a point of calling the cartoon “The Real Ghostbusters”

Actually, the Filmation Ghostbusters came out FIRST. The movie producers had to pay to get the rights to the name.

Good riddance. I never liked his character anyways.

It doesn't give an answer to the only important question.

Assuming it actually does get made (big assumption), is Bill Murray in it?

Assuming this has a level of credibility and its not Dan Akroyd spouting off his pipe dream(which is mine as well) I'm ready to sacrifice Bill at this point.

Peter Venkman is not the end-all-be-all of Ghostbusters. Lots do with GB outside of Venkman IMO.

They should just kill off Venkman offscreen if Murray won't be in it. Character was over rated anyway.

I've never seen two posts as objectively wrong as the two above this one. :(

The character wasn't awful or anything. It's just that Murray went through a period where he basically played the same role in every movie he was in. Tell me what the substantive difference between his characters in Ghostbusters and Stripes was?

"Well, Bill, last time you played a wacky out of work cab driver who joins the Army. But *this* time you're playing a wacky out of work college professor who chases ghosts!"

:p

I mentioned this in an earlier thread about Ghostbusters, but I think it should start 10-20 years back when Venkman is supposedly "killed" during one of their jobs, so they all finally quit..

Then, present day, someone starts seeing him and the others realize he's not dead, just "gone" and they plot to get him back into our world.

Does no one here remember when Bill Murray wanted to move on to serious films and did The Razor's Edge? Very different from any of his other roles at the time, and I thought it was well done.

Well Bill Murry, Harold Ramis and Dan Ackroyd aren't getting any younger, so if they want to do another GB movie, they better do it soon. And they could even do the whole 'next gen' of Ghostbusters in it - plenty of comedian actors that were practically raised on Ghostbusters that would kill to have a role. Plus if they can try to keep the comedic aspect of the whole thing mixed with some pretty solid thriller stuff, they could really have a good movie.

I was a just a really little kid when the first GB came out - saw it at a drive in - was scared shitless over Slimer. But after a couple years I practically wore out the VHS tape that my folks taped it on off of HBO (back when you had to have a special antenna on the roof to get it!) I memorized every line, every sound effect, every moment and to this day I still enjoy the first AND the second movies. So I've had most of my life spent with Ghostbusters... had most of the toys, watched the cartoons all the time, had the halloween costumes, proton pack the works... LOL

While yes, it would be great if they made the next one more family friendly, at the same time it was the slight irreverence without being overly vulgar that made it cool. You didn't need to see Dana's boobs or see Egon and Janine naked. The language wasn't too bad beyond, shit, damn, hell, dick. They didn't say fuck every 10 minutes. (Honestly the word is getting a BIT overused - I mean its a word but c'mon it was shocking 15 minutes ago, be a tad more creative. Y'know?) Next they need to make sure that while there is a villan or an event they need to stop, it would be cool to see them working on a couple of 'normal' cases, sorta like Ghost Hunters, except this time they actually see and bust real ghosts haha. Heck that could be where the story starts. The original GBs are quasi realty TV stars with a Ghost Hunters like show trying to cash in on their former fame but also because there's been a drop off in people actually hiring them because of the economy or something, so they do this Sci-Fi Channel show detailing some of their cases going all over the country. Maybe they start finding that the sightings are leading them somewhere, heck if they wanted to do the whole flag waving patriotic thing, have it lead them to the Twin Towers or something, that when the towers came down it sent a ripple through the space time continuum, the towers were some kind of 'gates' that kept some mystical mumbojumbo energy field in check, but with them gone the door is open and while it happened years ago, only recently have some otherworldly spooks discovered the gate is down and the door wide open.

Some nasty even worse than Zuul and Viggo tries to come through. Maybe tries to rally the souls of those that died in 9/11 to his side to take over the world, or at least the Eastern seaboard... but he fails in that and the good spirits try to rally other good spooks to their side, but the GB's have been having a bumper crop until like Slimer or some other ghost tells them that they're busting the wrong ghosts.

Maybe interspersed we can find Peter and Dana had another kid, but Peter due to being a jackass is divorced from Dana who's a traveling concert musician and has custody of the kids, except Peter has Oscar and his daughter with him on a shoot when literally All Hell Breaks Loose.

And for the finale, I can see all the bad ghosts that the baddie has rounded up facing off against all the good ghosts, maybe we can even see a bunch of historical NY'ers fighting or running around. Be funny to see Mayor Laguardia and the mayor from GB2 among the ghosts, 'See Lenny... its fun!'

It could be a real hoot, the new classic for the next generation.

Or it could suck worse than Street Fighter
