Ghostbusters 2016: Talk about the movie(s).

Yeah, yeah, yeah, when facing a losing argument, argue semantics.

This whole thing got started with chick flick: it's a word, get over it.

Whether you want to spell it "chick flick", "chick-flick", or be ahead of the game and call it "chickflick", the meaning is the same and the word is here to stay.

:)

Based on what? Language is always evolving.

Chick means something. Flick means something else. Put them together, and it means something else.

Do you want to do this dance again?

You're right, Saga, when a debated topic falls into grammar arguments, you know we've taken it as far as it goes.

The real question here is, are compound words sexist?

Fireman
Policeman
Mailman
...
Though, strangely, no one ever complains about Madman

Luckily, they didn't stick with the film's original title Ghostbustingmen which would've been harder to update.

Aykroyd still has hopes for his 'Ghostbusters III'

Oh I've written… well, we have…I've written, well, there's three drafts of the old concept that exists. And we're going to be able to salvage some of it and use it. Yeah, we're gonna be able to use it some day. Let's get this one made and that will reinvigorate the franchise and then we'll go on to maybe doing a more conventional third sequel as we were planning and another idea I have for it.

Yeah, why not. I'd watch it.

Jesus Christ, Dan. Just give one of your shitty scripts to IDW, let them do a comic adaptation so the whole world can see how terrible your idea for Hellbent was, and call it a day. The ship sailed a long time ago.

Yeah, I love him, but I'm not sure where the hell Dan thought he'd sell that idea. The pre-production for the new Ghostbusters film is already underway, and he thinks he can sell his own version of it at the same time, while this new one is in the works? Come on, Dan, think. The ship has sailed, the time has passed. Move on.

With the thread title change I'm not sure if it's now only supposed to be about the casting or not. Anyway, Paul Feig had this to say on the most recent episode of The Talking Dead.

I'm very inspired by this show (The Walking Dead), because what I love is how they play with the danger, they play with the scariness, but also the idea that it's always about gauntlet running. And that's something -- an element I want to bring to this 'Ghostbusters' reboot is just having to get through these various obstacles that are supernatural and all that.

I'm not quite sure what to make of that but I do like that he's thinking of what to do with the Ghostbusters beyond just bringing the funny.

And what's up with this Access Hollywood calls it "Ghostbusters 2"! I wonder if that's just rude or ignorant?

I can't remember where, but I do recall Feig saying he wanted to emphasize more horror out of the horror/comedy.

I'm kind of frustrated by this. I love Ghostbusters, and the idea of a female reboot is great, but every trailer and preview I've seen for Paul Feig and Melissa McCartney's stuff has just not worked for me.
