Ghost in the Shell 2.0 anyone seen this?

^Except that, again, the original GitS universe is in manga form. The movies are an adaptation just as much as the TV series is.

I have a compilation book of the manga. Never finished it. Gotta say I like the anime better. I guess I'm an anime fan, but not really a manga fan.

Pretty moving pikchures!! :D

No shame in that. The only reason I bothered to seek out the manga was that I saw the 1995 movie first.

Then I became a Shirow Masamune devotee. A devotee, I tell you!

so these movies are definitely worth watching, right?

Wow, for someone named ReadyAndWilling, you seem surprisingly hesitant to just go ahead and watch them already. ;)

The first GitS film is definitely worth watching in the original Japanese (the English dub not so much). It's one of the classics of modern anime. I wasn't as fond of Innocence, but it does have some really stunning visuals. Stand Alone Complex is also highly worthwhile, very thought-provoking and intellectually complex and challenging.

ok, ok, i'll be checking it out really soon when i get some time off from work. looking forward to it! christopher, did you see my thread on Japanese movies? i'm looking for a few other ones that have real live actors.

Yeah, I have to say pictures are much better when they move and are in color, voice acted, and set to music. :)

Come to think of it, my wife has her office Christmas party tonight. I think I'll veg out in my massaging, heated recliner and watch the 160-minute 2nd gig condensation movie.

Will you choke up when the Tachikomas start singing?

Don't do it! I hear condensation is bad for electronics, it might break your player. :p

Started watching it a 6PM with a pizza, only stopped to walk the dog and feed the dog, finished watching at 9PM.

Like, wow.

I've got that too.
The movie makes the plot more understandable, but leaves out a lot of good stuff.

(As I was typing this, my music - which is on random shuffle - started playing the GitS theme "Aerea Gloris" I love synchronicity!)
