Ghost in the Shell 2.0 anyone seen this?

Basically Ghost in the Shell is divided into two distinct universes. The original Ghost in the Shell and Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence comprise the first universe.

ok, thanks so these are the first two i should watch? seems confusing how they order them.

Yeah, that would be correct if you were going to watch the original GITS universe stuff.

^Except that, again, the original GitS universe is in manga form. The movies are an adaptation just as much as the TV series is.

No shame in that. The only reason I bothered to seek out the manga was that I saw the 1995 movie first.

Then I became a Shirow Masamune devotee. A devotee, I tell you!

Wow, for someone named ReadyAndWilling, you seem surprisingly hesitant to just go ahead and watch them already.

The first GitS film is definitely worth watching in the original Japanese (the English dub not so much). It's one of the classics of modern anime. I wasn't as fond of Innocence, but it does have some really stunning visuals. Stand Alone Complex is also highly worthwhile, very thought-provoking and intellectually complex and challenging.

ok, i've read through the thread and come to this conclusion:

Ghost in the Shell 1995 version first. Then watch 2004 version. 2.0 is just the 1995 version re-done so watch this last.

Yeah, I have to say pictures are much better when they move and are in color, voice acted, and set to music.

The movie makes the plot more understandable, but leaves out a lot of good stuff.

Do you mean it makes it more understandable simply by virtue of condensing it, or does it actually add/change content? Just curious.
