Gettibg Around DC, helpful hints, please

On the food-front I'm going to toss out a word for Five Guys. ;)
Pfft. If you want a real burger you go to Ray's Hellburger in Arlington. O. M. G.

Ask The Brew.
All I know about getting around DC I learned in Fallout 3, so it will not be of much use.
The Mall is tiny in the game. Also, not enough Mutants in the game.
So will I probably need an extra energy pack for my plasma rifle? Or would I be ok with an extra stealth boy?
That's good for daylight, but at night you better pack a Fat Man. Not that'll do you a lot of good, but it's a neat light show.

Take a tour, we went and it's a whole lot further between monuments than it looks on t.v.
We have two small kids so walking all the way between them was pretty much out.

While I agree they're the best burgers in the universe, the line alone makes me recommend against this. However, ancientone, if you choose to go, take a ride out to Roslyn (orange line) and walk a bit. It'll be in a shopping center on the right on Wilson.

My suggestion. If you arrive at Union Station, take the metro to Metro Center and transfer to the Orange line and go to Smithsonian. It's not the worst walk in the world, but DC is very hot and it might get unpleasant. It'll take you right to the middle and you can see most of the mall. Buy tickets for the price just to get there. Then, when you head back, you can go from whatever other metro station you're at and the price may be different. Plus, there's nothing worse than having 1.30 left on a card. The free museums and monuments are good enough for a trip to DC. The pay museums are ridiculously expensive, but I heard they're good.

I was in DC a couple of weeks ago, and we walked around to all the monuments. It is definitely worth it, although it was so hot that day I sweated off about 5 pounds. Bring good shoes and lots of water.

The Korean War Memorial, the World War II Memorial, and The Roosevelt Memorial are all quite different, but those are my favorites. The Korean Memorial is so haunting, it really sticks with you. It's stunning.

Have fun!!
