Sweet! Little homages like that are a perfect way to recognize what came before. On a side note, I also found it fun to note that all three of the cars he drove in the original series were seen on the screen in the movie (Sunbeam Alpine, Karmann-Ghia, and an Opel)
Anyone else besides me think that Alan Arkin as "The Chief" FINALLY is up to the level of humorous quality Edward Platt brought to the role?
You won't be disappointed. Arkin delivers a line that got THE biggest laugh from the crowd.

Agreed. Also loved the cameos from original cast members. (See if you can spot them - one is obvious, one not)
Arkin is hilarious throughout the movie.

from what I've heard they took the right approach. They didn't try to completely reproduce the Don Adams series, but they took the right attitude, an inspiration from the series. Those who have seen the film, would you say that is accurate? It at least seems that way to me.
I rewatched the original pilot (the aired one, not the other one)
As such, I am hereby lowering The Cone of Silence on further discussion of this topic until Friday.![]()
Wasn't there an "unaired" version that was longer and the editing was a bit different? Maybe I'm thinking of another show (like The Dick Van Dyke Show, which was originally callled Head of the Family).

It's the line that is set up with "Chief are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
I loved that line! Had me giggling for at least five minutes, I wish I could have rewound the movie and watched that part again.
