get off michelle Obama

Wait wait wait.... aren't the liberals supposed to be anti-gov't and anti-establishment? aren't the conservatives supposed to be for the absolute rule of law and siding with the man in power?

What does any of that have to do with this subject?

This isn't about a law or any government agency. You're gonna have to explain that one a bit more 'cause I can't see that it applies to anything in here.

Well one of them is fatter and needs more whipping into shape.

It's either the munchie consuming liberals or the beefsteak chawing conservatives.

I dunno, I think "Just Say No." was effectual because it got the word out, and it was so pervasive that it was in everyone's minds. This was in a time when drugs were rarely talked about with kids (at least that's the way I remember it growing up in the 80s), so just getting people to think about it was a big step.

And now 30 years later kids don't use drugs anymore?

And rates of drug use in children haven't stayed the same?

And we don't have more than 2 million Americans in jail because of drug offenses?

If that's a success, what's a failure look like?
I didn't say it decreased drug use, I said it got people to stop putting their fingers in their ears and go "LALALALALA" whenever the subject came up. :p

Interesting first link there. According to the first graph on that page, my senior year in high school had the lowest recorded rate of drug use ever! (So I suppose "Just Say No" worked on my class!)

There was nothing wrong with 'Just Say No.' It was a great first step towards sane drug policies.

Unfortunately, what followed were 30 years of idiotic laws, wrong-head political bluster, and rules developed without any common sense.

But none of that was Nancy's fault. She did fine. You can't blame her for the fact that everyone else went crazy afterwards.

What I was trying to get at is the fact that the conservatives are on Michelle Obama's case with the reasoning of "this is big government and get out of our lives." while the liberals are supporting Michelle Obama with "This serves only to protect you and improve your personal well-being."

When Bush administration instituted the patriot act, it was the liberals saying "this is big government and get out of our lives." and conservatives saysing "this serves only to protect you and improve your personal well-being."

See what I mean?

Bush. thats why. All the explanation you need.
After No child left behind, yeah I wouldn't expect anyone to listen to him.
