get off michelle Obama

I was going to mention that this has been going on since JFK. I didn't realize it started with Eisenhower. But both of those clowns are well-known Commies, anyway. :rommie:

As for Right Wingers saying it's not government's job to raise kids-- well, there's irony for you.

Don't be ridiculous. "Walking to the store"? Where do you get the idea real Americans would do something so plainly communistic when they can drive to the store in their car? ;)

LOL, well kids can't drive so they have to walk to the store, to school or to the bus stop. I'm just thinking that on top of a full school day, home work, dinner, whatever other lessons might be crammed in there such as music finding another 60 minutes to exercise sounds stupid. But maybe you are supposed to add up all your activity to see if you actually move for 60 minutes of the day?

As far as I can tell, the man has gotten more publicity for playing golf and going to the beach than actually doing anything. I have yet to see him take any sort of serious action about anything beyond the stimulus package way back when. When I wrote that, I was short of time and probably should have waited before shooting my ass off.

Why don't you just say "I don't read newspapers" and leave it at that?

Health care reform?
Don't ask don't tell?
Wall Street Reform?

I mean, I could go on, but why? It's clear that you don't read the news, don't care about the news, and try to actively avoid the news.

That's fine, but don't come here and brag about it. It's nothing to be proud of.

And Michelle Obama has a calender for God's sake. I have yet to see a calender (or in fact, any sort of merchandising) related to any previous First Lady.

So typing 'Laura Bush Calendar' into Google shouldn't turn up any results, then?

I mean, you argue like people don't know what Google is. Is that ever an effective tactic anymore?
Because I :lol:ed.

Well, most kids in school have recess, and most kids with healthy social lives have friends that they can come home and play with after school. They don't need a solid 60-minute exercise routine. Parents just need to prevent their kids from being lazy pieces of crap who lay in front of the TV all day. Basically, a normal kid won't need extra encouragement to get 60 minutes of exercise; they do it anyway just by being kids.

Adults, though, should definitely try and get that extra exercise and get their heart rate up for an extended period of time. They don't have the metabolism that kids have.

It's not really that hard to get kids to move for 60 minutes, total, a day, if you try. As stated above, they do have recess (my kids' is 20 minutes long), plus gym class. On a nice day like today, they're outside riding their scooters and generally running around. On crappy winter day, it's the Wii if necessary. Walking to the bus stop (or, if you're my 14 year old, running because you're late) and going to the park counts, too.

To me, most of the criticism about the First Lady amounts to, Who the hell do you think you are to tell me what to do? Don't you know your place?

Oh I get it. You're a Hannity retransmitter. Friday I got in my car and it was still on the talk radio station because I'd been listening to Dave Ramsey earlier in the Day. Guess what Hannity's chosen baloney of the day was. Oh yeay, it was was that Obama has done nothing but play golf and go to the beach.

My favorite part was when he mentioned the number of times the president has played golf since taking office. It sounded like a big number until I did some quick head math and realized it worked out to about 1 1/2 times a month. Call me a lazy socialist, but I think the president should be able to play golf a couple of times a month.

Yeah, it's funny how Obama has done nothing but play golf and go to the beach, yet at the same time has done so much to destroy the country and piss off Hannity and his ilk with his Islamisocialist agenda. Either he does nothing, or he's pushing his radical agenda on the American people. It can't be both, simultaneously.

And how many times was it reported that Bush was "at his ranch, clearing brush"? Quite a few, as I recall.

Its not only for kids, its for tweens and teens alike. If someone doesn't change their habits by 18, they rarely do.
I see first hand what happens with some kids. I say in Walmart some lady decided Cheetos and A big liter of Sprite for her clearly 5 -6 year old daughter.
I say kids in high school who looked as though they should be starting the 3-4 grade, and they were the right age. Michelle isn't making parents do anything, she is just saying what they should do, thats different and doesn't deserve a who do you think you are. Parents aren't parents these days. All they care about is quiet and making sure they are the kids friends. The true parents are hard to come by these days willing to say I don't care if you want burger king for supper this salad is all there is, eat it or starve.

I think you meant to say 'their big-ass SUV'. :p

Small nit, but worth mentioning.

I am sorry but, Americans are known to drive to their mailbox only and drive back into their garage. Even if the store is in walking distance, they will take the easy way out.
I live directly behind my high school, yet they are kids the take a bus and drive to school that are in my neighborhood. and its $100 for a parking space that you don't get back the next year(both the parking space and money)

I just gotta say that the mere TITLE of this thread is seriously creeping me out.

Honestly, when I saw the thread title and that it was started by a username I didn't recognize, I thought it was going to be porn spam for some obscene browser-based flash game.

Republicans are hypocrites who need to back off.

Michelle Obama is a classy lady who won't make any comments to her hatred and that's why they attack her. However if you actually talked to her, you'd probably like her. That's what happened to Elizabeth Hasselback. She bashed Michelle and then actually talked to her, now she adores her but remains incredibly Republican(however, I did like her comments about Huckabee: abortion or single mothers, you can only be against one).

Sarah Palin attacked Michelle on her failed Alaska reality show too. Twice I believe.

Once she brought cookies to a class and said something, I don't remember what though.

The second her and her family were roasting s'mores around a fire and she said, "This is for Michelle Obama who says that we can't eat like this."

Nevermind the fact that Michelle had just said in an interview with Barbara Walters to eat pie because it was around Thanksgivings.

She just wants us to eat healthier, not fully cut back on treats. Just proportion it, you don't have to have two servings of ice cream every night.

Too much of one thing is a bad thing. constantly eating smores bad, once in while, good.
Doesn't surprise me that her show failed. All it did was flash around that she had money and had the luxury to fish, boat, camp, in these hard times, while normal americans can't take those long breaks.

First Ladies are expected to have some campaign that is all about improving people. Reading, exercising, getting tested early for cancer, it doesn't matter. Something that most people assume is a good thing that the first lady then talks about a whole lot. Not makes laws about, talks about.

I'm sure whatever I decided to promote would be the laughing stock of the country.
