George Lucas and his franchise (Star Wars).

I kind of wished that for the PT that Lucas just directed TPM and let two other directors do the sequels like what happened with the OT. But whatever. What's done is done.

Steven Spielberg did direct parts of Ep. III, but Lucas is an outsider is Hollywood making it difficult for him to get directors and writers let alone voice actors.

My question: Is it bothering you that he's telling the stories all over again and again?

When it comes down to this question, my answer would be "somewhat." I would like to see something new. Though I enjoyed The Clone Wars animated shows... I am getting tired of clones. I am getting tired of that particular time frame in the Star Wars universe.

Of course, shortly thereafter the original Academy on Yavin IV was razed by the Vong, and the place was moved to a planet we've never seen visually. That didn't help things at all.

Ossus has appeared quite a bit in the comics.

The PT is okay but for me it's not as insanely rewatchable as the OT.

Lucas actually directed almost all of RotJ.

Where did you hear that? I believe that Lucas just directed the Luke/Vader/Emperor final confronation scenes.

Hmm, didn't know that. I guess I can't really complain too much then.

Dark Empire II, I believe, is where it made its first major appearance.

RotS he crafted the story for, wrote the first draft but it is most likely that an uncredited person did a second draft and then Lucas did the third.

Tom Stoppard.

And it amazes me that the guy who penned a masterpiece like Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead could let shit like "From my point of view, the Jedi are evil" and "It's over because I have THE HIGH GROUND" get through.

Nope, the director had trouble with a lot of the special effects so Lucas had to step in quite often especially for the Endor sequences and some of the Jabba sequences. Of course, as you said, he directed the confrontation as well.

Lucas stepped in at times as 2nd Unit director because he wanted to, and also to keep the film on schedule.

He did the same thing on Raiders of The Lost Ark. Would you imply he directed that film?

From what I've heard, Lawrence Kasdan, Tom Stoppard, Carrie Fisher, and quite possibly Quentin Tarantino, among others, contributed significantly to the prequel scripts. Likewise, Steven Spielberg, Quentin Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez, and others, supposedly directed key sequences of the prequels.

Lucas is more than willing to let others play in his sandbox, and almost always gives credit where credit is due. And when he doesn't, there's usually a good reason. (Union/Guild conflicts). He usually shuns the limelight, but will cheerfully step into the public arena to let others poke fun at him, or to sing the praises of another.

From where I'm sitting, the egomania he's often accused of having is a myth with little basis in reality.

^ Yeah, I never got where people think Lucas has an ego. He always seems very personable in interviews where he likes to joke around.

He stepped in as second unit, yes, but he also directed many, many scenes. I'll see if I can dig up a link.

I think at this point Lucas is mostly interested in Star Wars as the engine to drive forward his real interest, which is developing filmmaking technology. Star Wars films and TV series offer funding and, essentially, research labs to that end.
