Generations PC Game

I was wondering if anyone knew where I could acquire this game? I just want to go back and play it for nostalgia purposes.

I have also noticed that MicroProse has gone defunct back in 2001, does that mean the game is now abandonware (legal to download this game)?

I remember that Star Trek keyboard. There was also an ugly-ass "phaser" mouse that looked absolutely nothing like a phaser.

Part of me wants to buy that thing simply for the "IT'S A KEYBOARD!" box with the Trekkie molesting the keyboard.

I wonder if the name "IT'S A KEYBOARD!" was part of a series where they got the licenses to various movies and TV shows and made keyboards based off them.

The only this to remember about Generations is that its the mother of games to get running on anything but a actual Win 95/98/ME...I'm sure the only way i got it running was on a old HD and a copy of ME.

And too be honest its not worth it........Of course if dying constantly and having your one weapon run out of energy after about six shoots and no recharges ever is your type of game, then generations is for you...;)

OK, it can be VERY frustrating at times - but I think the cutscenes alone are worth it - the story line and different arcs are also interesting. The Romulan levels were paticularaly good - the hardest one was Antileos (SP?), where Crusher goes into the living planet. (And climbs through one of the most pornographic things ever!), lol.

And Adagio, if you're out there, please check your PM box.

I can't remember if I ever managed to finish that mission, but I also remember that the mission where Data goes to that planet with the little lizard armadillos was bloody difficult. It took me forever to pass it.

I have never been able to finish Antilios, specifically because of the inability to jump through that portal.

Also made maps to help Data jump into the ocean at the right spot in the Arvada (?) mission.

And I did rely on 'moving the mouse around' to prevent freezing during the loading screens.

Also had some fun beating the massive fleet and causing the alternate ending to appear.

that game was tough and it seemed a bit buggy at times.

I think I got stuck on some planet as kirk and never finished it.

I remember it was to be one of the first few games to support Direct 3D,
but it never happened at release.

I never got the living planet, and "Armadillo" planet levels completed. And even after getting to Veridian as Kirk, couldn't finish the game.

I played it mainly on our old Win95 computer, it won't play on Windows XP, you can install it despite problems. But try loading it up and it breaks and freezes in all sorts of weird ways.

It wasn't worth getting a patch to make it work. Only some of the levels are really that fun, like someone else mentioned the Romulan levels are impressive and a lot of fun. Getting loads of Romulan weapons, the large maps etc.

But it isn't that great a game, I have an old copy somewhere in the house.

Finished the game! (With a little help from Brady's Strategy Guides...) I actually like the storyline better than the movie. The Enterprise also meets it's end in a very different way. Those are my favorite missions.

I know what you mean.

To this day, I can't remember whether Voyager ripped the macrovirus story off of the game or the game ripped off Voyager's Macrocosm. ;)

/\When Picard was in the Jefferies tube, they did reference Star Trek V. Scotty's line 'I know this ship like the back of my hand' is there, then you hear 'clank!'
