General Trek Questions and Observations

I'm a Videographer and recording sports is a large part of it. The Home Teams are white or off-white and the Away Teams are other colors.

Starfleet ships are usually white or off-white. Other ships are different colors. Subliminally, whenever a Starfleet ship gets into a battle, we see them as the Home Team and someone who we should root for.

Did Kirk command a second five year mission on the newly refit Enterprise after the events of the first movie? Did he have to take a voluntary reduction in rank to do this, because wasn't he already an admiral at this point?

I'm asking because some of the Trek novels seem (at least to me) to take place after the refit.

I always assumed there was a new charter on the refit.
That's why Decker was in command of a refit, & now there's no Decker. So Kirk probably commanded a new mission as an admiral

You know... I just realized that The Traveler is probably the same age in both Journey's End & Where No One Has Gone Before. He probably bamfed to thoughtsville & came back, but Wes was now 7 years older. It might have only been minutes to him

I guess The Traveler was not affected by all those 'jumps' back and forth. But he is also the only character who didn't show up in the "Enterprise" series. A lot of other beings and things were more or less put into it (to explain their appearances on the later series) and because it was the very first ship (NX-01) to go into 'deep space' into the "Expanse" which will be aired tonite on H & I. I will be watching it.

I doubt Troi is meant to be the only Betazoid in Starfleet, since she cannot read minds, just feelings Picard should transfer a full blooded, telepathic Betazoid officer to his ship.
I know it's not canon but in one of the novels (cant remember which one) there is a Betazoid officer. He talkes about the hard training to deal with not being overwhelmed by being able to sense everyone on the ship. Also that there are not many in starfleet that reason.

I was just on an automated phone system and it took me forever to figure out how to get in touch with a human. Let's just say, after this experience, I can very easily see why it would take until the 24th Century to develop an android like Data.

It'll take us another 300 years just to work out all the kinks. Some people are worried about Artificial Intelligence killing us all. I'm more worried about Artificial Stupidity.

I almost lost my voice yelling at the damn phone.

300 years? Well I won't be around for that but Stephen Hawkins already predicted that the Earth has only another 500 years of existence. After that, BOOM! We'd better start looking for another planet if we are even going to survive to call anyone.

^ 500 for Earth or 500 for Human Civilization? O_O

Anyone got an Alexa? The sound of a Tribble on continuous loop. Pretty cool and relaxing lol

Just say "Alexa, play Tribble sound"

Enjoy!

Geez, just finished Watching Who Watches The Watches for the thousandth time, & I'm beginning to think Riker is rough customer to have on an away mission. He fricking takes an old man hostage in this one. Granted, he didn't hurt the guy, to my knowledge, but it got me thinking. He socks a cop in the face in Time's Arrow. He takes on a whole hospital in 1st Contact, wages a halfassed rescue in The Outcast, & there's probably more I'm forgetting

I'm really just joking here, but dude's kind of a nightmare on away missions

^He also yelled “shut up” in front of Jean-Luc/Ethan/Barash in “Future Imperfect” and assaulted a Ferengi in “Unification”.

And he shot Zefram Cochrane.

Ummm.... when did Riker shoot Zefram Cochrane. Cochrane lived roughly 120 years before Kirk took off. So where does this come in? Was this in the books?

It happened during First Contact. Cochrane was weirded out by LaForge’s story about his statue, so he pretended to use the bathroom to run and hide. Riker stunned him because they didn’t have time to argue about his taking his space flight.

Cochrane is another really relevant example lol

If I were on an away mission with Riker, & whoever we were dealing with was giving us a hard time, I'd be like "Yo, you really wanna cool it before Roger Ramjet's got you eating dirt"

Lefler's Law #1? You can only count on yourself. Lefler's Law #17? When all else fails, do it yourself

You'd think that if she couldn't get past 17 without a redundancy, a lot of those 102 laws must be total crap. Rule 46? Life isn't always fair. So what's rule 52? You can't always get what you want?

Seems like a mind-numbingly deranged waste of time to me

Just thought I'd put an invite to anyone here: If you would like to view or join my FaceBook Group: "Enterprise:Two 4 Tea" feel free. Just remember to view the rules BEFORE you post. This Group is open to the Public and dedicated to Cmdr. Charles Tucker and Lt. Malcolm Reed but will accept anything on all Star Trek series and events. Will even allow 'other' Sci-Fi series posts. Take a look and if you join, Thank you for your support! Meantime, tonite on Enterprise: "Hatchery" - Archer gets bugged!

What do you suppose V'GER actually became, after it joined with Decker? Personally, I've always suspected that it transmogrified into another energy being like the Thasians, or Organians.
